Creating Another Cool Beauty Using Stampin'Up! Botanical Layers Stamp Set

Today we'll be Creating Another Cool Beauty Using Stampin'Up! Botanical Layers Stamp Set. Tuesday our design was a lovely 3-panel "cool" card..if you missed it check it out here Click here to see Tuesday's card.

Here's today's creation...

Vertical

& a bit closer look..

Vertical cuIn keeping with our theory on Tuesday about using greens with blue in them to create the illusion of cool we again chose to use Shaded Spruce and Pool Party for our greenery.

The snake plant foliage gives us wonderful interest with the pattern of the leaves. So by simply adding one more plant in coordinating Pool party we have all the image that we need for this space.

Again we used the Tinsel Gems but this time we used the green one that add the sparkle but don't draw away your focus from the primary images.

Note the corners of the focal layer (& the shadow layer) are absolutely stunning. This is achieved by using the Very Best Trio punch on all 4 corners...it simple takes the card to the next level with this simple addition.

We used the diagonal lines vellum over the Pool Party layer which give lots of interest to the background with little work.

The sweet bow is tied with the Pool Party Grograin ribbon...it has a sassy little shine & is quite soft & tieable.

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.

Stop by next week to see what we're creating.

Quick & Refreshing Card Using Stampin'Up! Botanical Layers Stamp Set

Today we're creatng a Quick  & Refreshing Card Using Stampin'Up! Botanical Layers Stamp Set. We're in mid-summer heat so now is the time to make a card that looks cool and refreshing...

Here's today's creation...

Horizontal

a bit closer look...

Horizontal cu

This Botanical Layers stamp set is  stuffed with beautiful images that lend themselves to quick & easy card-making.

Since we are in the midst of 90 degree weather I'm always looking for "cool." So I chose greens with a lot of blue since blues are "cool" colors.  In our current Stampin'Up! pallette  Shaded Spruce and Pool Party provide our chill & a nice variety of color.

Likewise, when contemplating the color for our flowering spray I wanted to carry through some blue to coordinate nicely with our greens.  Fresh Freesia popped immediately to mind & it blends quite well with our green garden.

Now this stamped white layer was very pretty but I decided to ratchet it up a notch by dividing it into 3 parts and letting the Freesia background pop through a bit-- when I did that the entire card front came alive.

Next was to add just the right bling & the Freesia gems from the new Tinsel Gems Three Pack with their lovely clear tinted gems have all the sparkle you'd want in your cool summer garden.

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.

Stop by Thursday to see what else we're creating with this stamp set.

Another Amazing Card Using Stampin'Up! Lighting the Way Stamps & Dies

Today we're creating Another Amazing Card Using Stampin'Up! Lighting the Way Stamps & Dies. Tuesday our card was based on the beautful starry sky...if you missed it check it out here... Click here to see Tuesday's card.

Today's card is set in a flower garden during the evening hours...

Blueberry

And a bit closer look...

Blueberry cu

I fell in love withe the Magnificently Made designer series paper the first time I laid eyes on it...and this happens to be my favorite design in the set...the shaded blue in the background sky is just the right setting for fireflies in the evening spent in your flower garden.

Again, as with Tuesday's card we used the holographic specialty paper for the lantern die cut. It is amazing what an impact this paper has on the overall card design and appearance.  Cutting the lantern from any other paper would result in a lovely card but this paper really pushes the card appearance over the top into the very special category!

Instead of a die cut this time we used the "glow" circle stamp for the lantern light and we stamped the fireflies instead of using die cuts. This helps to bring the focus attention on the lantern and how special it appears.

We can certainly use this card for many occasions...birthday, thinking of you, celebration, thank you...so this is another card you can create several and keep them in your summertime stash for times when your time is short!

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.

Stop by next week to see what we're creating.

A Totally Awesome Card Using Stampin'Up! Lighting the Way Stamps & Dies

Today we're creating A Tottaly Awesome Card Using Stampin'Up! Light the Way Stamps and Dies.  It's now mid-summer and outside in the evenings (if you're lucky) you'll be seeing fun fireflies blinking away! This was the inspiration for the cards this week.

Here's today's card...

Stars 1

& here's a closer look....

Stars cu use

There are so many intriguing features on this card that it's hard to know where to begin...so let's talk about the background designer paper---you simply can't find a better background for the lightning bugs than a starry night! The Stargazing set has tons of starry sky designs you can select from-this means you can make tons of these cards with that set of papers.

The lantern and bugs we die cut from the holographic specialty paper--what sparkle, what shine, and the wavery glowing colors--there was just not a better paper from which to die cut these images. It's usually tough to capture shine and shimmer in a photo but the holographic paper sparkles like magic in the photo.

The additional diagonal striped vellum reminds me of light rays and since we are playing with lots of light in this card--I thought it was perfect!

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.

Stop by Thursday to see what else we're creating with this stamp set.

An Unexpected Way to Use Stampin'Up! Ocean Front Stamp Set

Today I'll show you An Unexpected Way to Use Stampin'Up!'s Ocean Front Stamp Set. Tuesday we created a lovely card with this set using telescoping frames...if you missed it check it out here  Click here to see Tuesday's card .

We usually try to use the same set for both posts in a single week. So I also want so show you the versatility of this set...so this card may surprise you!

Background

& closer...

Background cu

By now I'm sure you've figured out that we are using the "sky" stamp as our background to the silhouette floral image. I enjoy using silhouette images and layering them on a beautifully colored background. As you have experienced creating these colored backgrounds can take a bit of time and each one will appear somewhat different that the others.

By using the watercolor brushstroke stamps--you can achieve a stunning color wash and you can get the same image over and over again with minimal effort.  We know that using the blending brushes creates some spectacular images & we also know that we often don't have time to be that creative...so this provides you an instant watercolor wash background ready to go.  Simply select your silhouette image , add a greeting and embellishments --you'll look like a pro!

The background color for this card is one of the new colors in this year's pallette--Lemon Lolly. It definitely filled a hole in our range of yellows---and it's soft sweet hue is quite stunning. When contrasted with black inked designs---it is very charming.

You may be wondering about the black contrasted edge of the focal point---we cut another die cut in black, cut it vertically down the middle & adhered it to the back of the white die cut so it just peeps out both sides.

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.

Stop by next week to see what we're creating.

Quick & Easy Card Using Stampin'Up! Ocean Front Stamp Set

Today we're going to create a Quick & Easy Card Using Stampin'Up! Ocean Front Stamp Set.  I've enjoyed this set for a couple of seasons and each time summer rolls around I just have to create another card. The fluid images are a blast to work with & when your creation is complete it looks like a watercolor masterpiece!

Here's today's creation...

Seascape

a closer look

Seascape cu

What I love about this design is the telescoping frames creating the feeling of depth & a fun way to focus our image. This telescoping is achieved by using 3 successively smaller Countryside Corners dies. If I've ever found a useful set of dies it is this set.  The concentric layers can be used individually or, as with this card, in combination to create some masterful designs.

The sky & the water meet with that slight overlap that gives the edge of the water a little added definition.

The beach needed to fill in a significantly larger area than the wedge shaped stamp in the set.  I didn't want to stamp that in layers to "fill in" so I turned the water image upside down & let it meet the water edge creating that wet sand line you see at the beach.

A bit of cattails & a smattering of seagrass & we have the perfect peaceful background for our Go To Greeting--Just a Note. This greeting will get you through a multitude of occasions which makes this one of those cards you want to create and keep in your summertime stash.

I'll give you step by step directions for today's card below followed by the supply list.
