Learn the Magic Behind the Potted Succulent Die!

Today you will Learn the Magic Behind the Potted Succulent Die! It's quick, it's simple and it's fabulous! Check it out...

Simply succulents

Potted succulent

The Potted Succulent dies is pretty terrific and quite stunning in black but it's what lies behind it that shouts magic...right? Behind the die cut is a brilliant burst of color that is achieved simply by using the Water Painter and ink refills. I must tell you that the color is more intense in real life so you must try it out to see the full effect.

This background is a combination of Daffodil Delight, Polished Pink and Pumpkin Pie. As you can see by over lapping the colors a bit you soften the color line and actually blend into a combo color which can be fun to create also. Using the Water Painter and simply using circular motions we just color the entire piece of Watercolor paper---there is no prescribed order--just start in one corner and work in the three colors until the entire piece is colored.

Last week we explored a couple of other experiments...did you miss them...check them out here https://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2021/06/the-secret-to-create-that-watercolor-background-in-a-minute.html and here https://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2021/06/exploring-the-secret-of-a-using-a-watercolor-background-for-a-dramatic-card.html

The Secret to Create That Watercolor Background in a Minute!

Today I'll show you "The Secret to Create That Watercolor Background in a Minute."  If you're in a rush or you just enjoy that watercolor look...today's project is ideal...here's the first card using the Hand Drawn stamp set for the image...

1

This awesome splash of color does two things--we don't have to use  markers or pencils & it doesn't take a long time.  We simply use re-inkers & the new Water Pens (aka Aqua Painters).  It took me longer to decide on the colors to use than it took me to create this background.

In the above card I used the "scribble" technique--just back & forth with the brush. In the second card below I use the circular method--brushing in circles to apply the color. Both are fast, fun, and fabulous.

2

The secret to good watercolor backgrounds is to work quickly, not apply too much water, & not to go over the same area many times. Doing any of those things will cause the surface of your paper to "pill" up which is not very attractive.

I'm going to give you step by step directions followed by the Supply list so you can purchase your supplies today.

Same Technique for Another "Look" with the Elegant Designer Paper

Today we'll use the Same Technique for Another 'Look' with the Elegant Designer Paper. Tuesday we used color on color for our "designer" paper ---if you missed it check it out here..https://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2021/06/did-you-see-the-other-elegant-designer-paper.html

Today we're using color on white--same technique....but this gives you quite a different feel---this one is a bit brighter & crisper.

Fresia - white card

I also added a bit of additional color to the central image using the Freesia Dark Blend marker & a touch of Wink of Stella--this focuses the eye on the card center.  Adding a quick cute tag with the new Elegant Trim creates an eye-catching focal point. Here's a closer look...

Fresia white cuEssentially you can create any designer paper needed using any color ink plus white cardstock. Adding that coordinating layer of matching color defines the top layer but isn't absolutely necessary.

I'll give you step by step instructions followed by the supply list so you can purchase your supplies.

Did You See the "Other" Elegant Stampin'Up! Designer Paper?

Did You See the "Other" Elegant Stampin'Up! Designer Paper? Probably not...we're going to design it today! Last week we designed a multicolored paper but this week we're going to create a lovely designer paper that is only one color...check out the card...

Fresia card

We're using a color on color design this week--beginning with the new In Color Fresh Fresia cardstock and stamping with the same ink...

Fresia - starting

Cut a piece of Fresh Fresia cardstock 3 7/8 X 5 1/8 the begin in the upper left corner and working down to the right bottom--stamp in Fresia and turn the stamp a quarter turn, ink and stamp again. Continue in the same manner covering the entire piece of cardstock.

Fresia - full background fresia ink

Using the same in gives a vivid background. If you prefer a softer image--try using Versamark embossing ink....

Fresia - backgroun versamark

Either is beautiful--it's a matter of your preference.

P.S. Check back Thursday to see what else we can do!

Using the Newly Created In Symmetry Designer Paper

Today we're looking anew at Using the Newly Created In Symmetry Designer PaperTuesday we created a whole sheet of a "new" In Symmetry Designer Paper in the colors that I wanted in my card...if you missed it...check it out here https://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2021/06/have-you-seen-the-other-in-symmetry-designer-series-paper.html

Since we had virtually 3/4 of the sheet left we have plenty to create a couple of more cards with this new paper we designed. Here's the first one for today...

3 In symmetry

This one uses s strips cut from the designer sheet--leaving a small border of cardstock underneath adds a bit of pizzazz to the paper. A layer of black cardstock was added beneath the Flirty Flamingo and this provided a sharp contract to set off the paper. After punching the dragonflies from the copper paper, I put them through the Ornate Floral folder to add some interest and dimension to them. Adding a ribbon tied in a knot and our card is completed.

3 In symmetry cu

Our second card for today is quite simple and elegant...

2 In symmetry

This cards simply uses a horizontal layer of our designer paper with a Granny Apply Green backing. Again, adding a measure of Petal pink ribbon and tying a bow completes the picture. Of course, adding the Champagne rhinestones between the images on the designer paper add that last touch of sparkle that makes it elegant!

Pretty fun, right?  I'll give you the card directions below followed by the supply list so you can order your supplies.

P.S. Check back Thursday to see what we do with the rest of the designer paper!

Have You Seen the 'Other' In Symmetry Designer Series Paper?

Have You Seen the 'Other' In Symmetry Desiger Series Paper? Probably not. I was thinking of creating a card with the new In Symmetry stamp set and I wanted to use designer paper in the design..but the colors I wanted to use in the card were not working with the designer paper in the catalog (Sweet Symmetry). Sooo I decided to create my own...the primary colors I wanted in my designer paper were Flirty Flamingo, Granny Apple Green and Balmy Blue...so here's what happened...

I began with an 81/2 X 11 sheet of Shimmery White (if we're going to dream, let's dream with shimmer, right?)...and using the stamps in the In Symmetry set and the colors I wanted in my designer paper I began filling the sheet with images...

In symmetry starting

I began in the center alternating the images (each had it's own color) and kept stamping until I filled that sheet...

In symmetry sheetNow I can cut up this sheet and use it in my card just like Stampin'Up! Designer Series paper...so here's my card...

1 In symmetryPretty fun, right?  I'll give you the card directions below followed by the supply list so you can order your supplies.

P.S. Check back Thursday to see what we do with the rest of the designer paper!
