Loyal Leaves - Easy Quick and Beautiful

Today we're creating a card with Loyal Leaves - Easy Quick and Beautiful!

The Loyal Leaves stamp set is really a pretty set with the fine veined leaves and a wonderful size especially for what we are doing today--creating a "designer" type paper background...

Loyal leaves stamp set

This stamp set has several unique greetings that we don't find in our more typical greetings, e.g. Older & Wiser, missing you, You are my Hero.

We're using three greens today that all have some blue in them..Just Jade, Shaded Spruce, and Mint Macaron--they are a wonderful blend of light, medium and dark in shades.

I'll give you the simple steps to create the card. Following the directions you'll find the supply list--use that to order what you'll need to create this card.

If you place an online order using this month's Host Code (VX3RSCVK) you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product (selected by me) for each $50 in product that you purchase. Also, the month of July is Bonus Days with Stampin'Up! and you'll receive a $5 coupon via email from SU for each $50 in product that you purchase.

Directions:

1. Cut Shaded Spruce cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score on the long side at 5 1/2 (card base).

2. Cut Mint Macaron cardstock 4 1/2 X 3 3/4, adhere to card front with liquid glue and the 4 1/2 lenghtwise on the horizontal.

3. Cut Whisper White cardstock 5 X 3 1/4; stamp randomly as follows until this layer is completely covered with overlapping leaves

*Oval Shaped leaf with pointed ends: Mint Macaron ink
*Fan Shaped leaf (ginko) : Just Jade ink
*Oval shaped leaf with feathery edges: Shaded Spruce ink

4. Cut 2" circle (Layering Circle Dies) from Whisper White cardstock, stamp verse (Good Morning Magnolia) in Versamark ink, sprinkle with Gold embossing powder, heat with Heat Tool until shiny gold. Adhere to card front with liquid glue.

5. Cut approximately 16" Jade gingham ribbon, tie around stamped layer and tie in a knot (secure knot to layer with a glue dot)

6. Adhere 1 large and 2 medium/small Green rhinestones (Holiday Rhinestones) to circle in a rough triangle.

7. Cut 2 pieces of Gold foil 1/2 X 4 3/4; adhere to top and bottom edges of the stamped layer with glue dots; adhere this unit to card front with liquid glue.

Threen Ways to Use Blender Pens

Today I'm going to show you Three Ways to use Blender Pens. These are not "Blends" --the alcohol markers...these are the Blender Pens  (#102845) and come in a box of 3 pens that looks like this...

Blender pensThese pens have a clear liquid that we can use in a couple of fun ways...

First, let's use it to "blend" watercolor pencils....

*Stamp your image in Stazon Jet Black ink--this is a permanent ink that will not bleed into your coloring when exposed to liquid like that in the Blender pens.

*Color your image with Watercolor pencils.

*Then use your Blender to "blend' the color --it will become slightly more vivid and smooth out the coloring "lines."

Blender penNote: When you are finished coloring one color, wipe the tip of the Blender Pen across a scrap paper until it runs clear so you do not mix your colors.

The second use of Blender Pens is for coloring when you do not have a marker in the color you need but you DO have an ink pad with that color..

*Stamp your image in Stazon Jet Black ink

*Place a drop of ink from your reinker in the lid of that same color ink pad

Reinker    *With the tip of the reinker bottle, smear the ink a bit in the lid so that it is not quite so dense.

Smeared ink    *Now with the tip of the Blender Pen, pick up a bit of ink in one of the lighter inked areas and color your image.

Color grapesWhen you are finished with the purple (Gorgeous Grape), wipe the tip of the Blender Pen along scrap paper until it runs clear.

Now the third way  to use the Blender Pens is to create a new color. For example, in our grapes image, let's say we do not have a green ink pad with which to color the leaves....

*Take one of your clear blocks (that you use for stamping), and ink one half of it in yellow

Ink with daffodil

*Turn it 180 degrees and ink the other half in Balmy Blue

Ink with balmy

Set the inked block on the table and with your Blender Pen mix the blue and yellow together forming a green color...now you can color in the leaves with your new green color...

Mixing ink on block Colored leaves
Now, what fun is that---you can now experiment to create your own colors and blends of colors to suite whatever image you are stamping!

Enjoy!

How to Make a Simple & Quick Fancy Card

Today I'm going to show you How to Make a Simple & Quick Fancy Card. We'll be using that gorgeous new stamp set Fancy Phrases--one of my new favorites--I love pen and ink drawing. I'm so jealous of artists who can draw---this is just a lovely set.

Now as you know I'm fond of a quick cards because I'm always in a hurry. The feature design in this set would be a really pretty one to color but as usual when I made this card I was in a hurry...so little time to color. What do you think?

Fancy phrases

I used the feature design in the background--essentially I created by own designer paper and I can match any color cardstock that I want in this manner...makes life so simple, right?

Take a look at that awesome gold hoop--when these appeared in the catalog I wasn't really in love---but then I began to pop them into cards and found that with no effort at all I was creating a really stepped up card that coul rival any designers card. It's so easy...I just use rolled up glue dots to hold it down and find that this works great.

I'll give you the simple steps to create the card. Following the directions you'll find the supply list--use that to order what you'll need to create this card.

If you place an online order using this month's Host Code (TA9QZXJ3) you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product (selected by me) for each $50 in product that you purchase. Also, the month of July is Bonus Days with Stampin'Up! and you'll receive a $5 coupon via email from SU for each $50 in product that you purchase.

Directions:

1. Cut Seaside Spray cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2 (card base).

2. Cut Seaside Spray cardstock4 1/8 X 5 3/8; stamp the flower image randomly in Seaside Spray ink on this piece; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

3. Punch 2 1/4 circle from Whisper White cardstock; stamp verse in Versamark, sprinkle with Gold Embossing powder, heat with Heat tool until shiny gold.

*Stamp small flower spray in Memento ink below the verse; color with Seaside Spray (154901) and Shaded Spruce (154903) Blends. (you can also add Wink of Stella on the flowers (#141897). Adhere circle to card front with liquid glue.

*Adhere 3 rhinestones (1 large near the verse, 2 small as flower centers)

*Cut approximately 6" Seaside ribbon; create a pull knot around a gold hoop

*Adhere the hoop to the white circle with rolled glue dots.

It's a Beautiful World!

It's a Beautiful World!  That's the stamp set we're focusing on today! This card--which by the way is great for guys or gals--is relatively simple and the message can be used for multiple purposes or you can change it to a simple "Thinking of You" or "Happy Birthday."

Card

Here's a closer look at the globe--what I love about the globe is that the sphere and the stand are 2 separate pieces--so you can use either of the globes that apply to your card or you can stamp one of the globes in your stamp set. This shows the Brass Foil a bit better too.

Close up

I'll give you the simple steps to follow below as well as how to create the card.

Directions:

1. Cut Thick Very Vanilla cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score long side at 5 1/2 (card base).

2. Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 4 1/8 X 5 3/8, run through Old World Paper folder, smooth a sponge lightly inked with Crumb Cake across the "wrinkles" to enhance the depth; adhere this to the card front with liquid glue.

3. Cut Old Olive cardstock 2 1/2 X 4, stamp the compass in Old Olive ink randomly across this piece; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

4. Die cut "holder" and "globe" from Brass foil; adhere to Old Olive with small amounts of glue or glue dots. Note: place holder on card front first and then position the globe so that the second horizontal band aligns with the cross piece of the holder.

5. Stamp feather pen in Old Olive ink on Crumb Cake cardstock, die cut.

6. Cut Pear Pizzazz cardstock 1 1/4 X 2 3/4; stamp verse in Mossy Meadow ink. Stamp the feather pen in Old Olive (see photo). Adhere the die cut pen behind the label so that it coincides with the stamped image on the label and appear to be an extension of the pen above the label. Adhere 2 copper stars to the label and adhere this unit to the card front with dimensionals.

7. Adhere one copper star in the upper right side of the Olive layer.

How to Convert Wood Stamps to Cling Stamps & Save 3/4 of Your Current Storage Space

Hi, Stampers...today I'm going to show you How to Convert Wood Stamps to Cling Stamps & Save 3/4 of Your Current Storage SpaceOne of our long time stampers, Sandy Zinkhan (aka Sandy Z) has been kind enough to explain to how she accomplishes this.

This process, as Sandy Z describes it for us, is sooooo easy that even I can do it....so if I can do it, I know you're going to love its simplicity because the faster we get them converted to Clings the faster we can get to stamping!

Plus there's an added benefit of opening up 3/4 of the space currently dedicated to those stamps on wood blocks...those blocks take tons of space!

Sandy Z's Process:

We all probably have several stamps still on wood blocks that we'd love to use but we can't see through the wood so we tend not to  pull those out, right?

20200713_190204_0

Grab one of your stamps on a wood block. Carefully pull up at one edge of the stamp with your fingers--be sure to grab under the foam layer so you pull it up along with the stamp--here are a couple of samples:

Pulling off wood block
Pulling off wood blockNote: if you find one of your stamps is a bit resistent to pulling it up from the wood, try microwaving it for about 5-10 seconds at a time--you don't want to destroy the rubber--just soften the glue a bit to remove the stamp/foam intact.

The residual stickiness on the foam will usually be enough to adhere to the inside of a standard stamp case (Item #119105) and to your clear blocks when you are ready for stamping.

From wood to NOTIf you find that your foam is not sticking to the case or to the clear blocks, you can use 1) leftover cling labels from your Cling stamps or 2) use the new Cling labels (Item #152452) in the new catalog. Either of these will provide all the "cling" you need to stick to the case and to your clear block.

Here are a couple of pics that show how she is labeling her cases. Cut a piece of copy paper 7 X 10 1/2...slide this under the outer plastic cover of the standard stamp case.

Thumbnail_20200713_141245

Thumbnail_20200713_141245
To indicate what's in the case you can

    *Cut pictures from old catalogs
*Lay your wood blocks label side down on a copier and photocopy the set
*Do a Google search for your specific set and print out the pictures of the set

Attach these to the copy paper that is inserted between the plastic layer & the case itself

LabelsTo conserve space (so we can get more stamps in our stamp space) Sandy Z puts 2 stamp sets in one standard stamp case--you can see above how she labels the spine to indicate the names of both sets.

Below you can see 2 Wood Stamp sets now converted to Cling stamp sets ready for storage in about a quarter of the space they took up when they were in separate cases on wood blocks!

Just Sayin'

Today's card is fairly simple and Just Sayin'! Pretty much it's focused on "just a saying"---sometimes that's really all you need...just the verse. This verse says it all and with just a bit of embellishment is a very elegant card:

Tasteful textures

We used the label die from Tasteful Labels--this die set is chucked full of great label shapes--there's one that will fit almost all those verses in your stamp sets. The background is quite subtle but adds that extra touch of texture (Tasteful Textiles) that ratchets it up to the next level of lovely. The greenery comes from the Sunflower dies and tied with a gold twine bow adds sparkle and charm.

I'll give you the simple steps to follow below as well as how to create the card.

Directions:

1. Cut Petal Pink cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score long side at 4 1/4 (card base).

2. Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 3 3/4 X 5, adhere to card base with liquid glue.

3. Cut Petal Pink cardstock 3 5/8 X 4 7/8; run through Tasteful Textile embossing folder; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

4. Cut label (Tasteful Labels dies) from Very Vanilla cardstock; stamp verse in Versamark ink (102283) and sprinkle with gold embossing powder (109129); heat with heat tool until shiny gold; adhere to card front with dimensionals (104430).

5. Cut single sprig (Sunflower dies) from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and double sprig from Mossy Meadow cardstock; adhere to card front with glue dots at base of stem.

6. Cut approximately 9" of gold cord (Forever Greenery Trim combo): tie in bow and adhere to sprig base with glue dot; add 3 pearls in an approximate triangle.

A Pop Up Rainbow of Colors

Today we're creating a really fun card with a Pop Up Rainbow of Colors. It's a very simple design but the Wow factor is that awesome pop up of all the elements on the card front!

Happy day w balloons

Here's a side view so you can really see how terrific that looks all popped up:

Happy day w balloons side view

The rainbow of colors on both the words and the balloons is from the new Rainbow Glimmer paper...the colors range from deep red to deep purple...it's a graduation of colors each flowing into the next one that gives this fantastic rainbow--you can select any combo of colors you want simply by placing your die in the color zone that you want to capture.

The Pup Up is accomplished with the new Foam Adhesive Sheets...it's like having a sheet that is one big dimensional. Working with it is just the same as working with the regular dimensionals except that you want to adhere the cardstock to the sheet before putting it through the die cut machine--this way you cut the adhesive foam at the same time you are cutting the cardstock (in this case we're using glimmer paper).

I'll give you the simple steps to follow below as well as how to create the card.

Directions:

1. Cut Thick Whisper White cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score long side at 5 1/2 (card base).

2. Cut Coastal Cabana cardstock 5 X 3 3/4; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

3. Cut Whisper White cardstock 4 7/8 X 3 5/8; run through Parisian Flourish folder, adhere to cabana layer with liquid glue.

4. Cut adhesive sheet to approximate die size (Day from Word Wishes)

Cut sheet to die size

5. Cut a piece of Rainbow Glimmer paper the size of the adhesive piece

Adhere glimmer to sheet

6. Remove backing from adheseive sheet and adhere Glimmer paper. Place die over glimmer paper and run through die cut machine.

Die cut

7. Check backing to assure good cut through the layers; remove the backing and ahere to card front.

8. Repeat these steps for Birthday and for the Balloons (Happy Dies)

9. Cut 2 "strings" from the Happy dies fron Coastal Cabana cardstock; add one long string beside the Happy and cut the second balloon string to meet the first one. Adhere these strings with liquid glue.
