It's New--Lovely You Stamp Set!

It's New --Lovely You Stamp Set! Now that most of you have been into your new catalog I thought we'd start having some quick fun with the new sets--just a sneak view before our fantastic catalog debut the weekend of June 12-14 where you'll see many of the new products up close (on zoom!).

Lovely you notecard

I've used the cute little stamp set called Lovely You on this notecard....it's cute, quick, and easy using the Stampin'Up! Notecards and Envelopes as your base. They are quite economical too--there are 20 in a pack for $7.00.

152525S

Since these are so easy and quick--stamp up the entire package--tie a few of them with a ribbon and drop off  to a friend or neighbor with a cheery tag just to let them know that someone is thinking of them.

Isn't this stamp set useful--with an array of flowers and leaves--you can use ink pads or markers on the stamps--they are red rubber. For this notecard I used ink pads...at the debut I have another card (full sized) that uses the markers on the stamps for coloring...either way---quick and easy.

I'll give you the step by step directions below followed by the supply list...the stamp set will be available June 3rd at 3PM (the remainder of the supplies are available now).

Remember that the retiring products are only available now while supplies last an many are already out of stock...please check the list now so you won't miss out on items that you wanted but are not available after June 2nd. A Tricky Sticky Tip

Today I'm going to show you A Tricky Sticky Tip that was shared with us by one of my stampers, Barbara Howe. Barb, thanks very much for sharing this great tip!

Our tip is used when we create a card by stamping on separate pieces that make a whole picture and then separating them like this...

Card

Here's the neat trick---the 4 pices of cardstock

Cut into 4

...are turned to the back side and a couple of pieces of washi tape are used to form one piece (note we don't have  washi tape in the catalog--dig out your old supplies--if you really don't have any then use removeable scotch tape)

Washi
...turn back to front side and stamp image--press firmly

Colored

...then gently pull off the washi tape and adhere to the next layer of cardstock

Pulled apartIt's a good tricky sticky technique that let's you get a perfectly stamped image with little effort.

I'll give you the full directions for creating this card followed by the Supply List...remember if you place an online order using this month's host code N2K4FHDC you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! products selected by me for each $50 of product that you purchases.

Say Au revoir to the French Countryside

Today we're going to Say Au revoir to the French Countryside. This is the last day we are guaranteed to be able to order the French Countryside stamp set---after today--it' only while supplies last because this lovely set is retiring...

4-18-20 French Countryside

At first when I saw this set I was intimidated with all the "coloring" that appeared to be needed and then I thought--actually that lovely home would be a great background...and so, it is. There is only just a bit of coloring for the birdhouse--but I think you could even skip that if you didn't want to color at all. And....for those of you who don't like embossing...just stamp the greeting in black or maybe a bright color.

I'll give you the step by step directions below followed by the Supply list so you can purchase what you need to create this pretty card.

Remember, if you place an online order and use this month's host code (N2K4FHDC) you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product that I select for you for each $50 in product that you purchase.

Directions:

1. Cut Early Espresso 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, sco1. re long side at 4 1/4 (card base).

2. Cut Basic Black cardstock 3 1/8 X 5 1/2; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

3. Cut Crumb Cake 3 X 5 1/2; stamp the house in black in (e.g.Memento); adhere this unit to the card front centered over the black piece with liquid glue.

4. Die cut Very Vanilla with the So Sweetly Stitched Die (2 1/2 X 3 5/8)

*Stamp birdhouse in Memento ink; color with Light Poppy Parade, Light/Dark Crumb Cake, and Light Old Olive Blends

*Stamp Happy Birthday (Peaceful Moments stamps) in Versamark, sprinkle liberally with gold embossing powder and heat with Heat Tool until shiny gold.

*Adhere 3 Basic adhesive-backed sequins in an approximate triangle)

*Adhere this picece to left card front with dimensionals.

Your card is ready for sending--brighten someone's day with the lovely card.

Solution to the Stampin'Up! die case problem!

Today we have a Solution to the Stampin'Up! die case problem!

Last week I was vacuuming (I do this on occasion if it doesn't interfere too much with my stamping) and just before it got sucked up in the vacuum I saw a small die on the floor. Now I'm pretty careful about getting them back in the plastic case after using them but I have found that with handling them some of those small dies do slip out the slit in the case no matter how careful I am--that slit is where the lid tab should be inserted.

SlitSometimes I even have a tough time getting the tab inserted because the dies are attached to the cardboard insert & the tab gets hung up on the dies. You can see the slit and the dies that are adhered to the cardboard insert & just where the tab tries to insert.

Thumbnail_IMG_1793Soooo, I've discovered this awesome trick that works like a charm-
*It prevents those dies from coming out of the tab slit
*It prevents the case tab from getting hung up on the dies inside

First....let's  start  from scratch---here's a new set of dies--I just pulled it out the the plastic case & you can see the dies stuck on the cardboard by strips of tape--see it going through the center of the circle dies there:

Dies

Pull off all the dies from the cardboard...now you are left with just that sticky tape --this stuff always sticks to the plastic case when the dies are removed--can be quite annoying when you are trying to get the cardboard back in the case, right? Here's what's left..I know the tape is hard to see ---there are 2 lines of it approximatetly 1 1/2 from the top and bottom of the board here

TapeThen, take a clear envelope (item #102619, 50 envelopes $6.00)*--leave the covering on the flap--you don't need to remove that....

Clear envelopeand lay it on top of the cardboard with the flap laying flat on the cardboard & the opening of the envelope facing you...

Stick on boarsNow, all the sticky tape is covered...it will not stick to the case ---it's completely covered by the clear envelope...you don't need to add any adhesive--that tape that's already there works just fine.

Then, slip all those dies in to the envelope -remember the opening is facing you...

Slip in diesAnd slip the whole thing back in the plastic case...

Slide in caseNow you can tuck in the case flap - it doesn't get caught on the dies sticking up there or on the tape that was previously exposed. Note that the envelope opening is above the slit--so  the dies will not inadvertently slip out of the slit.

On other side of the case you can see the labeling sheet with the name of the dies and other info...

Label on outsideIt's a wonderfully quick & easy fix...all you need are the clear envelopes..that's it! I've been using this system for the past 2 weeks with the new dies from the new catalog & so far I've not had any problems...try it out--let me know what you think!

147 Stampin'Up! Ink Colors

147150G

Have you seen all of the 147 Stampin'Up! Ink Colors?  Fifteen of them are new this year in the annual catalog (Bumblebee, Just Jade, Cinnamon Cider, Moonlight Mist, and Magenta Madness)!

With that many colors you'll never run out of just the right shade!

You are probably thinking right now--I've only seen 49* of them in the catalog--where are the rest? *Remember Purple Posey will not be returning....but this tip will help you out with this color.

Did you know that in one ink pad you have 3 different "colors." For example, here's Granny Apple Green ink

GrannyHow did I get 3 colors from one pad...ink up your stamp well and stamp it 3 times without re-inking...you'll have 3 different colors.

It's truly awesome--for example, when you are trying to create a bouquet of flowers with Poppy Parade and you can't find just exactly the light and medium colors that coordinate well with the Poppy ink.... now, you can create the entire bouquet using just one ink pad. Just stamp the flower inked up in Poppy and then stamped twice more without re-inking!

Flowers

See how awesome this can be---you can have 3 coordinating colors for all 49 Stampin'Up! ink pads...here are a few more samples

GrapeNote the 3rd color here in Gorgeous Grape--wouldn't this be a great substitute for Purple Posey?  And, it coordinates very well with the Gorgeous Grape and the 2nd color too!

BermudaAs you are creating, each time you use a color create one of these sample swatches--2 1/2 X 5 1/2 on Whisper White cardstock (size depends on the stamp you are using), punch a hole at the top and pop them on a key ring--when you need a color in a shade you may not have in the ink pad itself--see if one of the 2nd or 3rd stampings  (without reinking) will do the trick!

You may want to organize them on rings designated as Brights, Regals, Neutrals, Subtles, and In Colors or you may organize them according to colors---reds, yellows, greens, blues, purples, browns, etc.  Whatever works best for the way you create! Just keep it simple and you'll have 147 colors swatches in no time.
