Turn All Your Old Stampin'Up! Stamps Into Cling Stamps

Today I'm going to show you how to Turn All Your Old Stampin'Up! Stamps Into Cling Stamps.

Prior to the Occasions mini and the New Annual Catalog, Stampin'Up! had Clear Mount stamps--these were the red rubber stamps that were designed to stick temporarily to the clear mounting blocks (thus called Clear Mount). Well admittedly they didn't stick well to the blocks temporarily or otherwise! LOL.

Now Stampin' Up! has designed the new Cling stamps (red rubber stamps with an amazing label that sticks really really well to the clear blocks).

So we now have in our stashes red rubber stamps that don't cling well...so today I'm going to show you how to convert those old Clear Mounts into Clings....it's pretty easy and you only need the excess Cling labels from any of your new sets (you can tell if your set is the new Cling by looking at the stamp case--at the top it will say "Cling Stamp Set.)"

New Cling Mount

Here we go...follow this step by step process (bookmark it in case you forget the steps you can always come back and review it)

Remove the label sheet from one of your new Cling stamp sets and cut out a piece from the excess (cut from an area that does not contain a printed label for your new Cling stamps). You can see below that I've already removed all the labels for my new set and all that remains is the excess that surrounded them.

Cut out piece from excess labelNext, using your paper snips, score down the middle of the shiny side (there's a dull side and a shiny side--right now we are using the shiny side)

Score the shiny sidePeel away the backing from both sides of the score mark (pull off the shiny backing)--you are uncovering the sticky part that will be used in the next step.

Peel shiny backing off

Now stick the uncovered sticky part to the back of your old Clear Mount stamp (the uncovered part is very sticky so place it properly the first time--you won't be able to move it well later). Press it down securely.

Stick to old clear mount label

Now with your paper snips, score a line down the middle of the paper backing (this is now the dull side of the label sheet)

Score the backing remaining on cling labelPull off both the right and left paper backings:

Peel off both sides of backing

Finish peeling off backingNow you have a "cling" stamp

New cling on your old clear mount

See how well it sticks to the clear mounting block

Adhered to blockIt's not really necessary for the "cling" label to cover the entire surface of your old Clear Mount stamp--if you cover about 75% of it the stamp will cling quite well to the block.

Now, the usual cautions will apply to your new stamp that apply to all Cling stamps:

*Don't leave them stuck to the block for long periods of time--they become very hard to remove from the clear block and might cause damage/tearing to the foam layer.

*Don't use Stazon Cleaner on these stamps because this cleaner will damage the "stickiness" of your new Cling label.
