Another take on No Sponge Sponging

Today we're creating Another Take on No Sponge Sponging.

If you missed Tuesday's card check it out here  http://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2018/09/no-sponge-sponging.html

Today's card is using the same inks but a slightly different design and stamp set: TreeHere's a closer look for the sparkle:

Tree close up

This is an awesome technique for silhouette stamping--it gives you vibrant colors for a black or very dark silhouette.

Below are the directions--simple & quick with a couple of fun hints to save you time & money. Following that are the supplies you'll need & how to order them.

Remember:
*This is the last week to use your August Bonus Days coupons---after Sunday they will expire
*If you place an order online & use this month's host code(4UGP9PMX) you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product for each $50 in product that you order.

Directions:

1. Cut Thick Very Vanilla cardstock 4 1/4 X 11 score long side at 5 1/2 (card base).

2. Cut Very Vanilla cardstock 3 5/8 X 4 . Stamp the "cloud" (Beautiful Blizzard) near the top in Melody Mango (lightest color). Note: since we're working from light to dark ink pads & in the same color family you don't need to clean the stamp between colors --you do if you are going to repeat the card--clean after stamping the darkest color. Now ink up with Calypso Coral & stamp about 1/2" down over the first stamped image.  Re-ink with Pumpkin Pie & move down another 1/2" from the previous stamp.

3. Do a Wink of Stella Wash. Using your Heat Tool, dry the ink/Wink well.

4. Stamp the tree sihlouette (Sheltering Tree, Stampin'Up!) in Early Espresso & immediately sprinkle with Clear Embossing Powder; heat until shiny with Heat Tool.

5. Stamp verse (Beautiful Day Stampin'Up!) in Versamark; sprinkle with Gold EP, heat with tool until shiny gold; adhere 3 gold metallic pearls.

6. Cut Gold Glimmer 3 3/4 X 4 1/8 (note: cut out the center for use in another project leaving a "frame"); adhere the frame to the back side of the stamped image with glue dots; adhere this unit to card front with liquid glue.

No Sponge Sponging

For all those who do not like coloring--even sponging--today we are doing No Sponge Sponging!  Aaaah, I knew that would grab your attention....this is a really fun quick way to get some multi-colors on your card with minimal effort and "no sponges."

Look at this card...see that multicolor layer under the leaf stamp? That is the "cloud" stamp from the Beautiful Blizzard (Stampin'Up!) & 3 lovely colors of ink that blend well. (Note: You don't have to clean the stamp between colors--see the instructions.) Leaf card

I used a wash of Wink of Stella which in real life looks fantastic...I did a close up here for you to see: Leaf

Stampin'Up! Buffalo Check Final Results

Today we're going to use some of those fun experiments from Tuesday in Stampin'Up Buffalo Check Final Results.

If you missed the Tuesday experiments, check them out here http://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2018/09/buffalo-check-becomes-buffalo-plaid.html.

Today we're going to use a couple of those experiments using the same simple card design but altering the background and base card colors...you'll see what a difference some of the "mixes" will make to the overall card look.

For example, this card uses the Crushed Curry ink on Crushed Curry cardstock. I mounted this on a layer of Espresso and used a card base of Crushed Curry. Very pretty, right?

Curry card

Now here I used the Crushed Curry in on Whisper White cardstock. I mounted this on a layer of Crushed Curry cardstock and use a card base of Whisper White. I used the same So Saffron cardstock for the daisies and the same verse so you can just focus on the difference the background can make to the card.

White card

I'll give you the simple directions for the card so you can reproduce it. Below the directions is a list of supplies.

1. Cut 4 1/4 X 11 cardstock, score the long side at 5 1/2 (card base)

2. Cut 4 X 5 1/4 cardstock for the middle layer--adhere to base with liquid glue

3. Cut 3 7/8 X 5 1/8 cardstock for the top layer (to be stamped on); stamp your Buffalo Plaid on this layer. Adhere this to the middle layer with liquid glue.

4. Cut 2 1/2 X 1 for the verse layer; Cut 2 X 1 1/8 gold glimmer for the under layer of the verse (use glue dots for this)--adhere this to the card front with dimensionals.

5. Stamp 2 daisies (Daisy Delight) in Stazon Jet Black ink on cardstock; punch out with Daisy punch. Layer one on the other with a dimensional and adhere to card front with another dimensional. Adhere gold Faceted Gem to the flower center.

This is a list of the supplies you'll need. Remember to use those Bonus Days coupons you earned in August (they expire after September. And, if you use this month's Host code (4UGP9PMX) you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product for each $50 in product that you purchase (the $5 coupons are deducted from the product total--so keep that in mind).

Buffalo Check Becomes Buffalo Plaid

TToday we're going to have some fun with the new Buffalo Check stamp and show you how Buffalo Check Be,comes Buffalo Plaid. The Buffalo Check stamp was easy to miss in the new Stampin'Up! Holiday Mini catalog--it's on page 38 right under tha cute little Spirited Snowmen stamp set...so it's easy to check out that set and completely miss this awesome Buffalo Check!

This is the stamp itself--it's the large size that fits the entire card front147794GI find that laying the rubber stamp on the table  (stamp side up), inking it, laying on the cardstock and the applying Block F to the top of that stack works great. Sometimes the large block with the mounted stamps can be a bit cumbersome for some hands to handle. This method works great for any hands and lets you place the paper very precisely where you want it:

Stamping sandwich

This little cutie may look simple (and it is simple) but the options for creativity are almost endless...depending on what color ink you choose and the cardstock color--you can create endless numbers of "designer paper" for your paper-crafting needs. We're going to explore one set of options today....

This is using Crushed Curry ink on Crushed Curry cardstock: Curry

Here we are using the Crushed Curry ink on Whisper White cardstock:

White

And lastly, this is Crushed Curry ink on Very Vanilla cardstock:

Vanilla

Now Stampin'Up! has 52 colors (I'm leaving out Basic Black for obvious reasons) and the same number of ink colors (plus Stazon Jet Black ink)...so imagine mixing and matching inks and papers...if you multiply 52 X 52---that's a lot of combinations, right. (This may not be the right formula but I'm an artist--not a mathematician so just go with me here! LOL)

Now one more thing--I told you I'd show you a plaid--ok, here goes:

Buffalo plaid

So I stamped first with Crushed Curry on Very Vanilla, washed the stamp, and inked up with Mossy Meadow...I positioned the stamp so that the solid square of the Mossy ink would hit the blank square of the Curry stamped image...and here's what this looks like:

Now you see that there is an "aged" look to some of the solid squares--this is the way the stamp is dessgned...depending on the amount of ink on your ink pad, you will see more or less of this feature.

And, speaking of more or less ink on your ink pad--you will get lighter and darker images of the "check"  so this is another variation that you can play with in your experiments.

Check back on Friday and you'll see some final results of our experiments today!

If you try out some of these variations...send me a picture so we can share our fun with each other. Send the email to [email protected]

Supplies I used today:

Lighted Graceful Glass Designer Vellum Take 2!

Today we're creating another Lighted Graceful Glass Designer Vellum Take 2!  If you missed the first one Tuesday, check it out here...http://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2018/09/great-convenient-storage-for-big-shot-dies.html

Today's card has a holiday set of colors--we're coloring with Poppy Parade and Old Olive..the basic card design is the same so it's quite easy to substitute a different window of vellum and enjoy a completely new card. Christmas with only outside light

Now we turned out the lights and turned on the tea light.... Christmas lighted

And a side view: Side view of Christmas

I'll give you the directions and then the list of supplies so you can purchase what you need.

Remember:

*Use the August Bonus Coupons during September so the do not expire.
*If you purchase on line and use this month's Host code (4UGP9PMX) you will receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product from me for each $50 in product that you purchase.

Card Directions:

1. Cut 4 X 12 from Old Olive 12 X 12 cardstock; score at 4" from each end. Use the Layering Square Framelit that is just smaller than 3" and cut out a square in one of the end panels.

2. Cut 3 1/2 X 3 1/2 Gold Glimmer paper; using the same framelit used in Step 1, cut out a centered square from this. Adhere Tear & Tape to the underside.

3. Cut a 3 X  3 from the Graceful Glass Designer Vellum (see pic for design); color top side with the following Stampin'Blends: Poppy Parade, Old Olive.

4. Remove the backing from the Tear & Tape and center over the Vellum square (recommend laying the vellum on a plastic surface to prevent the Tear & Tape from sticking to an unwanted surface).

5. There will be "unstuck" tape which we will use to stick this square unit over the square hole cut in the 12 X 12 base piece. (Again, lay on nonsticking surface) Fold the 12 X 12 piece into a triangle with the vellum on the outside.

6. Using the lattice from the Petals & More thinlets, cut lattice from Gold Glimmer paper; adhere to the inner base with liquid glue--see pic for placement. With your finger lift the inner edge of the lattice piece to act as a stop for the triangle front.

7. Cut a 3 3/4 X 3 3/4 square from gold foil--adhere to inner middle square of the triangle with glue dots; Cut 3 3/4 X 3 gold foil and adhere to inside bottom of the triagle (these will help reflect the tea light.)

Insert the lighted tea light inside the triangle.

Great Convenient Storage for Big Shot Dies

Today I'm sharing a Great Convenient Storage for Big Shot Dies. This wonderful storage tip comes from Diantha Kenney, one of Sandi's Stampers.

As many of us have encountered issues when storing our Big Shot framelits and thinlets...we are always looking for easy quick and convenient storage solutions for these tools. The paper/tape combo on which these dies arrive from Stampin'Up! are not really great storage when you are using these tools on a daily basis.

Small pieces easily go missing, the tape can stick to unintended surfaces and the paper base can rip and tear easily if you are using these dies frequently.

Diantha uses magnetic heating vent covers--she cuts them to 5 X 6 and 6 X 6 depending on the size of the original plastic die storage envelope. She then adheres these magnets to chipboard with Tear & Tape (double sided sticky tape). This provides a nice rigid surface that does not easily bend. Diantha's die storage solution

As you may have encountered previously--a slight bend to the magnetic surface can detach the dies from it's surface. With the magnets attached to the chipboard, this minimizes the bending and promotes the dies remaining attached to the magnet.

Since these magnets are cut to the size of the plastic envelope, there is no need to find another container--just use the plastic envelope in which the dies arrived. No need to relabel a container because the plastic envelopes already have the name and item number of the dies printed on them.

The vent covers can be purchased at Home Depot (3 magnets for $4.98) and these packs already contain a sheet of chipboard in them. Additional packs of chipboard can be purchased on Amazon.

We want to thank Diantha for sharing her terrific storage tip with us today.

If you have a good storage solution--contact me sandihartka@sandilovesstamping and let's share it with our stamping buddies.

New Storage for Stampin'Up! Stampin'Write Markers

Today I'll share with you a New Storage for Stampin'Up! Stampin' Write Markers.  If you are like me you have the big Stampin'Write Marker Case and you have filled it up--because who wants to toss the old markers that have retired but are still filled with ink! Right?

But we also want to have all those great new colors too, Right?

Well, so far we're on the same page...so here's a great new solution to your dilemma....use Stampin'Up!'s Standard Stamp Cases--they are perfect for storing 10 markers--when you open the case the markers are laying flat and you can easily see the color you need for your project. Standard case for marker storage

These standard cases come 4 in a pack ($6), so they are a great simple, easy and inexpensive storage solution for those markers who don't have a home yet. 119105G

Remember that you want to leave your markers laying flat and not on their ends so that the ink will flow to both ends.  This means the Standard Cases are perfect because you can label the spine with the family of markers contained....

Standard case - label

And lay them on top of each other in a stack---you can easily see the label, the markers are horizontal, and the case is easily retrievable and easily put back in storage when your project is completed.

One correction to the price listed in the catalog as $7 --should really read $6---so these are always on sale!!!

Remember those $5 coupons you earned in August from Stampin'Up!....you need to spend those coupons in September...be sure to spend them so they do not expire.  After September they will not be usable and Stampin'Up! cannot honor them.

Below are the supply codes for cases and markers for your convenience. You can click on the Shop Now button or click on one of the images below and you'll be in my store. Purchase your supplies today and use those $5 coupons you earned from Stampin'Up! in August
