Quick, Easy & Great for Guys!

We're still looking as swap cards and today's card is Quick, Easy, & Great for Guys

Coffee cafe

This card was created by Diane Flayhart--she used one of our favorite designer series papers, Coffee Break. It's a good card for guys, teens, office workers, teachers, etc...and best of all it's quick & easy, right! One of the really usable features of this card is that you can substitute YOUR favorite designer papers with coordinating colored cardstock and create a ton of cards to fit most occasions...the design itself is appropriate for birthdays, thank you, thinking of you and more!

The unfortunate parts of this card are that several of the tools are retiring but they are all still available at this moment...the Coffee Cafe designer paper, the Lots of Labels framelits and the Birthday Wit stamp set are all retiring....so don' delay in ordering the supplies for this card....the stamp set will be available until May 25th but the other two products are available only while supplies last.

I'll give you the directions for the card and then the supply list...remember....

*Order early to make sure you get the products before they are gone forever

(Note: if you place an order for $150 or greater--don't use the Host code--you will be your own host and will receive Host benefits when you place your order.)

Here are the directions:

1. Cut thick Very Vanilla cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2 (card base)

2. Cut Pear Pizzazz cardstock 4 X 5 1/4; use the Hexagon embossing folder; adhere to the card front with liquid glue.

3. Cut two strips of Coffee Break designer paper patterns 3 1/2 X 1, and another pattern 4 1/2 X 1.  Adhere these to the card front (see card for placement) using liquid glue..

4. Cut the "frame" from Very Vanilla cardstock with the Lots of Labels framelit; stamp 'Happy Birthday" (Birthday Wit stamp set) in Early Espresso ink. Attach to card front using dimensionals.  Adhere 2 round gold Metallic Enamel dots to the ends of the "frame."

Remarkable You is Retiring!

One of our favs Remarkable You is Retiring! I thought it would be fun to focus on some retiring creations in the next few days so we can maximize our use of these products.

Recently Sandi's Stampers held a card SWAP and several swappers used retiring sets (unbeknownst at the time)---so I picked a few that we can use as samples for our review of retiring stamp sets (and other products).

Today's sample was created by Wanda Onafuwa--using the "Remarkable You" stamp set--love her use of the Washi Tape--I never think to grab that when I'm creating... Remarkable you - wanda onafuwa

Looking a bit closer you can also see how she used the Layering Leaves embossing folder to add some interest and dimension to the card. Remarkable you - corner

How to Flatten Your Curved Big Shot Cutting Pads

Today I'm going to show you How to Flatten Your Curved Big Shot Cutting Pads. You know especially when using the Precision Base plate (even when you turn it over each time you use it) that your cutting pads develop a curve. This isn't the end of the world but eventually the curvature becomes too bad and it would be great to flatten them back out. This is the "before" view of a cutting pad on the counter--see the big bubble....Pad before

A couple of years ago I worked out a formula that seemed to work fine...but lately that formula wasn't working well and I've redone the formula so that it works better with the current cutting pads.  So today I'll show you what I'm currently doing to prolong the life of those cutting pads. Yep, Sandi's cooking again!

First, get an old cookie sheet and cover it with foil Cookie sheet w foil

Next, lay 2 curved cutting pads side by side--not touching but fairly close together is fine. (Bubble up like the first picture above)2 pads

Set a big heavy casserole on top of the cutting pads. Casserole

Set on the middle rack of your oven. Now turn oven to 350 degrees and set your timer for 16 minutes. Be sure to remove the tray from the oven when the timer goes off to avoid further "melting" of the pads.

Set the tray with casserole in place on cooling racks and let cool. When all parts are cooled, remove the casserole and your cutting pads should look like this (side shot)! FullSizeRender
You'll probably be able to flatten your pads a couple of  times and then you'll need to replace them. I recommend not waiting until they are too curved before flattening them---they can get too curved and then they do not flatten to the point of being able to use them again.

If you need to replace them you can order a new set in my store by clicking on the image below or by hitting the Shop Now button.  If you shop online and use the current month Host Code (QK6UJZNJ) when you check out, you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! products for each $50 in products that you purchase.
