Super Easy Gift Bag

I had a gift card for a friend but wanted a Super Easy Gift Bag to really make a spectacular presentation. I also know this friend loves a bit of chocolate---so I needed something a bit larger than a gift card holder. Then I though about the new Stampin'Up! Striped Treat bags and wow--what a great fit! Here's the gift bag  144255_striped_treat_bag

Now I thought, it would be lots of fun to spiff up this cute little bag and make it spectacular (instead of just gorgeous). S0, here's what happened...

  1. I stamped "Enjoy your special day!" (from Dragonfly Dreams #142924) in Archival Basic Black ink in the white spaces of the bag. Wow, what a difference that made!
  2. I  punched out 2 Daisies with the Stampin' Up! new Daisy punch (back in stock) from gold foil paper, I adhered one daisy to a 1 1/4" white cardstock circle; layered on the 2nd daisy with a dimensional. Punched out a 1/2" circle from gold glimmer paper and used a glue dot to place it in the daisy center.
  3. Clipped it onto the bag top with a gold Library Clip.

Now here's what that looks like! Spectacular, right? Striped treat bag
See what you can do with these cuties and send me  a picture I can share with our other stampers!

Here's the supply list--remember use the Shop now button to place your order and use  this month's Host code (VAWE76SW) when you check out and for each $50 in product that you purchase (excludes shipping/tax) you will receive $5 Stampin'Up! product from me as a thank you!

Easy & Quick Sponge Dauber Storage

This week I found myself inundated with a gazillion used daubers...so I thought of an Easy & Quick Sponge Dauber Storage Solution! There are actually 2 ways to do this--one is very quick and requires little effort....the other requires a bit more but not much. They are both fairly quick to do but both end up with the same storage solution. So here goes.

Method 1: Super Quick and EasyFirst grab a dauber and ink it up in the color you need to use. Dauber the ink on a piece of copy paper (approximately 7/8" X 1/2) ...be sure to get enough ink coverage that you will be able to see it well. Tape this sample to the side of the dauber with regular scotch tape. Easy right? Daubered copy paper

Method 2: Still Quick and Easy: Cut a piece of cardstock (7/8" X 1/2") of the color ink you want to use with your dauber. Tape this to the side of your  dauber using regular scotch tape...now if you want to get really fancy, you can take a pen or a fine tip marker and write the color name (see the picture) on the cardstock prior to taping it on.  Still easy, right? Cardstock

Compact Storage Solution: Now pop these little puppies into the Wide Stamp Cases---you can use either the Full cases or the Half cases depending on how organized you want to be. If you use the Half cases you can sort your daubers into the color families (Subtles, Neutrals, Regals, Brights, In Colors). If you are not quite that concerned about organization--you can just pop them into a Full case and sort through when you need one. Dauber case

So what do you think? Pretty simple and quick to do and it sure will make it easy when you need a dauber now--just pluck out the color and go!

Another 5 Minute Card

I had so much fun creating the Fastest Card on Tuesday (see here if you missed it http://www.sandilovesstamping.com/2017/06/fastest-card-youve-ever-created.html ) that I created Another 5 Minute Card using the Memories and More cards:  Butterfly

They are so easy to use and you can substitute the greetings and the thinlets that I used to create your own version. Almost all the cards can be used for creating a greeting card. There are even some overlays in the pack that will make a stunning addition to a stamped image.

We are all short on time it seems so I'm always looking for ways to make a quick card. I haven't purchased a card for 15 years and I'm not about to do it now with all the quick fixes I have at my fingertips!

I'm going to give you the directions and following that I'll give you the supply list. Use the Shop Now button to make your purchases. When you place an online order ($50 in product or greater--exclude shipping and tax) you will receive $5 in StampinUp! products from me when you use the current month Host code (VAWE76SW)

Here are the directions:

1. Cut Crushed Curry cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score the long side at 4 1/4"(cardbase).

2. Cut 4 X 3  from Basic Black cardstock; adhere to cardbase with multipurpose liquid glue; adhere Memories card using liquid glue.

3. Stamp "thinking of you" in Archival Basic Black ink in the lower right corner of the Memories card.

4. Cut butterfly (Butterflies framelit) from Basic Black cardstock, adhere to card with mini Stampin' dimensionals. (sandwich: Magnetic plate, Precision base plate, cardstock, thinket, standard cutting pad). Adhere 3 Metallic enamel dots as shown on card.

Your card is completed! Wasn't that easy?

Fastest Card You've Ever Created

I needed a cute card but am really busy preparing for my annual sale, so I made the Fastest Card You've Ever Created! What do you think?  Bee

I used the Color Theory Memories & More Card Pack to create this little cutie in just a few minutes.  The cards in the Memories & More packs are versatile because they can be used for your Memory keeping or in creating really fun and cute cards like this one in just minutes.

I also use the new Mini Stampin' Dimensionals under the bee to pop him/her up! These dimensionals are the same wonderful "stickiness" as the regular dimensionals, but are much smaller (1/4" diameter)...so no more cutting those regular sized dimensionals in half so they won't show underneath a small piece of cardstock.

I'll give you the directions to create this card and then the supply list so you can order what you need.  Remember, when you place an online order this month, use the current Host code (VAWE76SW) and you'll receive $5 in Stampin'Up! products from me when your product total reached $50 (excludes shipping/tax)! (hint: this month you will receive a sample of one of the products we're using today!)

Here are the directions:

1. Cut Crushed Curry cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score the long side at 4 1/4 (card base)

2. Cut Basic Black Cardstock 4 X 5 1/4; adhere to cardbase using multipurpose liquid glue.

3. Cut the Memories & More card to 3 7/8 X 5 1/8; adhere to black cardstock using liquid glue.

4. Using the bee thinlet (Detailed Dragonflies thinlets) & the Precision base plate on the Big Shot (sandwich: Magnetic Platform Precision base plate, cardstock, thinlet, standard cutting pad); adhere bee to the card front with mini Stampin' Dimensionals.

5. Stamp "Enjoy the Little Things" in Archival Basic Black ink on the card front. Now if you enjoy a deeper shiny black, quickly sprinkle with clear embossing powder and heat with a Heat Tool until shiny.

Your card is finished! You can substitute any verse or small image and have a card to meet any occasion!

Father's Day Card

It's this weekend...you'll most likely need a Father's Day Card. I wanted to make one that was not specifically for "my" father. Many of us like to commemorate the day for someone that is not our father. For instance, I like to give my son a Father's Day card--he has 4 daughters--if anyone needs to have a honoring day it's a man who lives in a house filled with females (even the dog is female; not sure about the fish).

With that in mind I created this card which is great for Father's Day but isn't specifically for "my" dad. I used the new Coffee Cafe Bundle and Coffee Break Designer Series Paper.

  6-16-17 Father's Day card - Coffee Cafe

Inside I'm going to write a message, but again, it's not to my Father. However, if you need one for your own father, then you can use an appropriate verse inside!

Now if you don't need a Father's Day card at all---this is still a great birthday card that can be used for guys or ladies!

I'll give you the directions followed by the supply list. You can use the Shop Now button and order through my store to get your supplies. If you place an online order in June and use the current Host code (VAWE76SW) you will receive $5 in Stampin'Up! product from me for each $50 in product that you purchase (excludes shipping/tax).

Here's how to make the card:

 1. Cut Pear Pizzazz cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2; score the long side at 4 1/4 (cardbase). Cut the polkadot design DSP 4 X 5 1/4; adhere the DSP to the front of the card base using multipurpose liquid glue.

2. Using Layering oval framelits, 3 5/8 plain oval from Garden Green cardstock; cut the 3 1/4 scalloped oval from Pool Party cardstock; cut 1 3/4 plain oval from Soft Sky cardstock.

3. Adhere Pool Party oval to Garden Green oval with liquid glue; adhere to card front with liquid glue.

4. Stamp tall coffee cup (Coffee Cafe stamp set) in Archival Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock; cut out with corresponding framelit.

5. Stamp cup lid in Soft Suede on Crumb Cake cardstock; cut out with corresponding framelit.

6. Cut out cup holder from Early Espresso cardstock and adhere to cup with liquid glue.

7. Adhere cup and lid to cardfront using dimensionals.

8. Stamp "Let's Celebrate your day" in Archival Basic Black ink on the small Soft Sky oval and adhere to cup holder with dimensionals. Add a silver heart (Metallic Enamel Shapes).

Your card is completed!

New Stampin'Up! Ribbon Club

If you love ribbons you'll want to join the New Stampin'Up! Ribbon Club which provides you  with one full yard of the new ribbons in the Stampin'Up! 2017-18 annual catalog!

Sometimes I add a bow to a card to jazz it up like this: 3-3-17 Swan Lake

Or I want a bit of pizzazz so I add a strip (no tying & no bow) --just adhere to the card and it takes the design to a new stepped up level! 3-26-17 Swan Lake

You can also use ribbon in your 3D projects like this terrific little gift bag  6-25-17 Card in bag

Stampin'Up! has released some gorgeous ribbon---and to purchase a roll of each one can get a bit pricey. However, you can get just 1 yard of each of them--you can touch the elegance and see what a difference a bit of ribbon can make in your designs.  That way you know which ribbons you want to order the whole roll.

Here's the brochures that lists the ribbons included in the club   Download New ribbon club..and below you can see the ribbons themselves.

It's very easy to join the club and receive your collections of these beautiful ribbons! Call 410 836 8016 or email: [email protected] your order in and get your  ribbon now!

So by joining the club you can sample all the papers and see which ones you'll want to order full packs of and still be able to order some of the other new items (e.g. stamps, framelits, punches).

You can download the brochure for the Club---you'll see which packs you'll get 12 X 12 and which  papers will be provided as a 6 X 12 sheet--but you'll always have 1/2 the complete pack. Download the info here  Download 12 X 12 2017 DSP Share

For a grand total of $75.21 (plus shipping to you if you are not local) you can get 12 X 12 samples (in most cases) of all these gorgeous papers.

How to store those framelits & thinlets.

One of my stampers, Nancy Cunningham, shared with me how to store those framelits and thinlits in a very organized way. First, she likes to store the stamp set and the framelits/thinlits together. In this way she only have to pull one box from  her stash and she's ready to create--instead of having to pull a stamp set and then hunt down the corresponding framelits/thinlets.  Keeping them in one container is convenient--since she only has to keep track of one item. Plus, it minimizes her storage space needed for the 2 coordinating products.

Now for the second part, she uses Business Card magnets which already have an adhesive backing:

  Business card magnets (2)

and adheres these to the inside of the stamp case. These she adheres the thinlets/framelits to the magnets.

Succulent framelits (2)

Now when she closes the case, she has her stamp set with the corresponding thinlets/framelis altogether, handy and ready for her project.

So this wonderful tip keeps everything together and handy as well as minimizes the storage space required for the 2 products.

One caveat, be sure that the cutting edge of the thinlit/framelit is not pressing on your stamp image--you don't want to  damage your image. If you find with larger sets that the case is too small to accommodate the stamps and the thinlit/framelit without pressing the die cutting edge into the stamp image--you may want to use the Wide Stamp Cases (item #127551) which allows more room without the die and the stamps pressing in to one another.

Fun tip, right? Do you have a great tip to share with other stampers?  Send me a short email and attach pictures of what you are describing. If it is something we haven't discussed in awhile, you may get your new idea published right here!
