Snappy Stampin'Up! St. Patrick's Day Hat

Do you want to spread some cheer with a Snappy Stampin'Up! St. Patrick's Day Hat? Here's a little cutie that is quick, simple and, is stuffed with chocolate--what else, right? I did say  "spread some cheer."

Shamrock hat
Shamrock hat

Notice the little shamrock is made of Mint Macaron glimmer paper (#143831)-- one of the three new Sale-a-bration Freebies! Just place a order for $50 and you can select it as your freebie through the end of March (or as long as supplies last)!  (The other 2 colors in the pack are Sweet Sugarplum and Bermuda Bay---they are totally totally awesome!)

I used 2 of the layering sets of framelits (circles & squares) for this hat. These layering sets are wonderful tools to have in you hip pocket when you need to have just the right size of shape to create your crafty item.  Stampin'Up! also has the ovals and hearts (called Sweet and Sassy).  If you don't have these yet, they are really terrific to have ready for your next projects.

I'm going to give you the step by step directions for this cutie and then the supply list. Don't forget to use this month's online Hostess code (AWSR23GU) when you place your order--for each $50 you purchase in product your name will be entered in a drawing at the end of the month (March 30th) for a $50 Stampin'Up! gift certificate.

Here are the directions:

 1. Cut Garden Green cardstock 6 1/2 X 2 5/8; score long side at 2 1/4, cut V wedges from the scored area to help curl it into the hat body. Using your bone folder, curl the piece into a circle by "scraping" it  gently lengthwise. Using multipurpose liquid glue along one short side, curl the cardstock to approximately 1 1/2"diameter---hold while glue sets. Template

2. Bend the body at the score mark with the V's to the inside of the circle.

3. Use the 2 7/8" Layering Circles framelit, cut a circle from Garden Green cardstock. Add liquid glue to underside of the V's in the body and adhere to the center of this circle.

4. Cut Basic Black cardstock 1 X 6 1/2"; curl with bone folder in a circle. Glue around body base with the liquid glue.

5. Using the Layering Squares with inner diameter of 3/4" and 1 1/4'' ---cut a buckle from the gold foil paper & glue dot to hat band base.

6. Punch a 1/2" circle from black  cardstock with 1/2" circle punch. Using small heart in the Baker's Box thinlets to cut 3 hearts from Gold Glimmer paper (use Mint Macaron glimmer paper if you have it). Using glue dots, adhere the hearts to the black circle to  represent the shamrock. Cut out the black circle still showing with your paper snips. Buckle and shamrock

7. Hand cut a stem from the  glimmer paper and glue dot this to the back of the shamrock. Slip behind buckle and glue dot in place.
