Another DIY Faster Than Fast Card

Well, I had so much fun with the Dandelion Faster than Fast Card that I decided to do Another Faster Than Fast Card!

Here's today's Fast Card--you'll notice the base design is another one of those great "scenes" in the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack....this time I'm using the one that look s like a sky.  So as I thumbed through my thinlets I saw the Up & Away thinlets (hot air balloons) and said "YES" we've got a match!

Up & Away thinlets
Up & Away + Serene Scenery DSP

So away I went and in less that 5 minutes, I had this awesome card that really rocks and it took so much less time that I started going through the other "scenes" --the possibilities are endless....check each one out and see if you can match it up with a thinlet, a framelit or a stamp. Let me know how you pair them up! Better yet, email me a picture--I'd love to see what you are doing!

Next week, you'll  definitely want to tune in and see a couple of new products that you can get for free! Sounds exciting, right? Just pop in on Tuesday and get your first look! I'm in LOVE!!!

I'm going to give you the directions for the above card and the supplies will be listed below--use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to order your supplies:

1. Cut Pool Party cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score on the long side at 4 1/4 (card base).

2. Cut Island Indigo cardstock 4 X 5 1/4; adhere to card base front with multipurpose liquid glue; Cut the "sky" scene from the Serene Scenery stack at 3 7/8 X 5 1/8; adhere with liquid glue to the black layer on the card base.

3. Using the Up & Away thinlets cut the large hot air balloon from Silver Glimmer paper. (Big Shot sandwich: Magnetic platform, Precision Base Plate, glimmer paper, thinlet, standard cutting pad). Adhere the balloon to the card front with glue dots.

4. Adhere 3 star Metallic Enamel Shapes in a triangle around the balloon.

5. Stamp "birthday wishes" (Build a Birthday stamp set) in Archival Black ink in the upper right corner of the card front.

DIY - Faster than Fast Card

Some of you who attended classes at my studio recently have seen this card--it's the DIY Faster than Fast Card!  Some of you asked for the directions and so I'm going to give them to you today!

Dandelion
Serene Scenery DSP & Dragonfly

The super fun thing ab0ut this card us using the Serene Scenery Designer Series Paper Stack as the background. These fun scenes really don't need much adornment to create a really awesome card!  And since there are 4 sheets of each design (there are 12 designs) you don't have to do one of a kind--you can do 4 of the same design which cuts down on your design work.

I want to remind you that the Hostess Code of the Month is usually posted in one of the first few posts of the month--so if you miss it--just scroll down until you find the current code. Why do you need that code--because if you placed an online order for $50, your name will be entered into a drawing at the end of the month for a $5o Stampin'Up! Gift certificate...this months code posted on 2/1 is  763F3N3M.  And don't forget that Sale-a-bration is in effect so for each $50 you purchase in Stampin'Up! product you can select a free item from the SAB mini catalog!

Here are the directions for the card and below is the supply list--use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to order your supplies.

1. Cut a piece of Crushed Curry cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score the long side at 4 1/4 (card base)

2. Cut a piece of Basic Black cardstock 4 X 5 1/4; adhere  this to the card base front using multipurpose liquid glue. Cut the Dandelion designer paper at 5 1/8 X 3 7/8--adhere this to the black layer using liquid glue.

3. Cut a large dragonfly (Detailed Dragonfly Thinlets) from gold glimmer paper using the Precision Base plate on the Big Shot (sandwich = Magnetic platform, precision base plate, glimmer paper, dragonfly die, standard cutting pad). Roll the die through a couple of times and leaving the paper in the die--use the Die Brush and foam mat to help push out the small waste pieces. Adhere the dragonfly to the front of the card using glue dots.

4. Stamp "Thinking of You" (Feathers Together) in Archival Black ink at the top left of the card front.

5. Adhere 3 gold metallic enamel shapes in a triangle around the dragonfly!

Your card is completed---very very fast, right?

Here's the supply list:

Scratched Foil Sheets When Die-cutting

Do you ever encounter this problem - scratched foil sheets when die-cutting?  If you use your Big Shot and your framelits/thinlets/edgelits a lot like I do, your cutting pads will quickly get etched with the cuttings of those dies. Then if you use those pads when cutting a piece of foil, the etchings may cut into your smooth foil and look something like this.

Before
Scratched Foil sheets from die cutting

There is a quick and easy solution for this dilemma --- use this Big Shot sandwich:

Big Shot, Magnetic Platform, cutting pad, foil paper, framelit, tissue paper, cutting pad

Then when you roll it through the Big Shot it will look like this:

After
Using the tissue paper method

The transfer of the etchings to foil usually happens when your cutting pads get "bowed" from extended use or when you forget to flip them over each time you use them to help keep them flat over time.  Using these pads with the Precision Base plate often quickens the bowing effect.

You can often straighten the cutting pads by doing this..

Cookie sheet, aluminum foil, cutting pad (curved side up), very heave casseroles (use more than one to make it heavy).  Place this  ensemble in the oven at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.  When you remove it from the oven, leave the casseroles in place until the cutting pad reaches room  temp.

One more thing, in the above pictures, did you notice I am using the Stitched Shape Framelits that were introduced last fall and went to "unorderable"?  Well, they are back in stock now and you can place your orders for them now!  The information is in the supply list below.

Here's  the supply list for the above products, use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to place your order:
