Take 2 - DIY Emerald Envy Glimmer

If you checked in Monday, you saw a really fun and quick way to create your own Emerald Envy glimmer paper using the Stampin'Up! Emerald Envy glitter Emboss powder. Today we're using that same powder and we're creating perfect Emerald Envy stripes on a cute tag.  Take a look:

9-30-16 Tag - emerald glitter embossing powder (2)

Here's how we create those perfect stripes and that glitter will not fall off!

1. Cut a piece of Shimmery white cardstock 2 X 4 (this is your tag base)

2. Use the Scallop Tag Topper punch on one end of the tag base

3. Using Tear and Tape, lay down 3 evenly spaced strips of tape across the bottom of the tag--use your paper snipt to cut the tape so you have nice straight sides. Remove the tape covering (use your fingernail or the piercing tool).

4. Sprinkle liberally with Emerald Envy Glitter Emboss powder, tap off excess gently. Heat with heat gun until set. Hint: watch the powder--it will shimmer slightly when it is set and it will be slightly darker.  Now you have 3 great perfect stripes.

5. Stamp Wishing You a Sweet Season in Real Red Classic Ink above the stripes. Adhere 3 silver Metallic Enamel shapes (see picture for placement).

6. Cut a 12" piece of Red Stitched Satin ribbon and loop through the top hole of the tag.

Your DIY tag is completed--and that glitter will not fall off! Enjoy

DIY - Emerald Glimmer Paper!

I adore glitter and glimmer and sparkle and shine! So as you can imagine--I'm really craving some great green glimmer paper for my holiday preparation! And, as you already know, Stampin'Up! does not yet have this product, HOWEVER, they DO have Emerald Glitter Embossing Powder--and that's just the ticket. Because I made my own DIY Emerald glimmer paper with it! Want to see the results?

6-27-16 Emerald Gimmer paper

Really awesome, right?

OK, I'll let you in on the simple secret and you can make your own! After I give you the directions--I'll give you the supply list too.

1. Cut a 2 X 4"piece of thick Whisper White cardstock and use the Scalloped Tag Topper punch on one end. (this is your tag base)

2. Lay this tag base on a piece of scrap paper.  Take your Versamark ink pad in your hand and apply the pad to the bottom 1 1/2"of the tag base. Press gently so the coverage is even over the area.

3. Sprinkle Emerald Envy Glitter Emboss Powder liberally over the entire area. Tap off excess gently and heat with heat gun until powder is set (hint: watch the powder closely as you heat and it will shimmer just slightly when it is set; it also turns sightly darker). There you have your Emerald glimmer paper---awesome, right?

4. Cut an 8"piece of Red Stitched satin ribbon and tie around the top of the glimmer shimmer area.

5. Stamp the row of stars (Tin of Tags stamp set) in Versamark ink near the top of the tag; sprinkle with gold embossing powder and heat until bright and shiny gold.

6. Stamp Go Ahead and Tear It Open (Tin of Tags stamp set) in Real Red Classic Ink between the row of stars and the red ribbon.

7. Cut a 12" piece of red/white twine and loop through the top hole of the tag.

Your DIY tag with DIY Emerald glimmer paper is complete! Enjoy creating your own Emerald glimmer paper!

DIY Designer Paper - Create your own color

Have you ever been creating a card and wanted to have a cool designer paper in a particular Stampin'Up! color to coordinate with your other colors? Well, me too, and now we have Stampin'Up!'s new Fancy Frost Specialty Designer Series Paper...it is AWESOME!!! First it has beautiful designs ---6 of them and each has it's own unique character. Then, they have a 3D effect... it's similar to being dry embossed...so you can color the embossed surface. That means you can have any color you want.

Check out the card below and you can see how I coordinated the embossed paper with the rest of my card...pretty cool, right?

9-23-16 notecard 2

You may notice this is not a 4 1/4 X 5 1/2 card...I used the Stampin'Up! notecards that come with their own envelopes. Sometimes I just want to send a quick message to someone and the notecards (3 1/2 X 5) are just perfect. They come in white and kraft color. Today I wanted a more vanilla tone so check out the directions and I'll tell you how I changed the color of the note card.

I'm going to give you step by step directions and then I'll give you the supply list.

1. Cut a piece of Fancy Frost specialty paper 2 1/2 X 4 (I used the leaf pattern because I'm designing a fall note card). Using a sponge on the flat side, I sponged very lightly with Delightful Dijon ink.  Note: the lighter you touch the less ink will go into the background. 9-23-16 sponge

2. Taking the same sponge and still using the flat side sponge the same ink (you don't need to reink it) on the front of the notecard....this makes the notecard now the same color as you have on your designer paper.

3. Cut a piece of Delightful Dijon cardstock 2 5/8 X 4 1/8; adhere this to the back of the sponged designer paper using multipurpose liquid glue. Adhere this unit to the notecard front using liquid glue.

4. Stamp the acorn bottom (Acorny Thank You stamp set) in Cajun Craze ink on Cajun Craze cardstock; punch out using the Acorn builder punch.

5. Stamp the diamond pattern acorn top in Delightful Dijon ink on Delightful Dijon cardstock; punch out with acorn builder punch. Adhere the top to the top of the punched acorn using liquid glue. Adhere this unit to the notecard front (with a dimensional) to the right hand side (see picture).

6. Cut two (2) pieces of gold cord, tie both in a bow and adhere to acorn top with a glue dot.

7. Stamp Grateful for you (Acorny Thank You stamp set) in Archival Black ink on Delightful Dijon cardstock; punch out with the Classic label punch. Adhere to cardfront with liquid glue.

Your color coordinated note card is now completed--you can do it in any color. This Fancy Frost designer paper is one of your best friends when you want to color coordinate!

Here's the supply list. Use the Shop Now button at the top of the page and order your supplies to create these notecards:

Quick DIY Halloween Treat Holder

Halloween treat holders are such fun--you can go all creative and do some really fun stuff. Today's DIY treat holder is actually quick and easy but cute as a button using the new Stampin'Up! Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series Paper

  9-20-16 treat holder 3

What do you think? Awesome, right? But you won't be heart-broken when they rip it open to get to the chocolate because you haven't spent a lot of time creating it. I'm also going to give you a little trick when you us  tassels...I love using them because they just add the special professional look but they keep flopping 0ver the tag/verse...keep reading and I'll give you the tip in the directions.

Here's how to create this cutie and after the steps I'll give you the supply list:

1. Cut a piece of Halloween Night Specialty Designer Series paper 4 X 4" (I used the small pumpkin design).

2. Apply Tear & Tape as shown in the picture below: 9-20-16 tape

3. Remove the tape backing (get under the edge with your fingernail or use the tip of your piercing tool), now roll the paper into a tube and adhere the tape to the outside of the opposite edge (see below) 9-20-16 roll

4. Now remove the tape backing from one of the end edges and flatten the tube end (so the tape adheres to the opposite side (see picture). Note: this is the time to add your candy inside the tube--do it before we seal the other end. 9-20-16 seal end

5. Remove the tape backing from the opposite end and turn the tube so that when you flatten it, it will be crosswise from the first end you flattened--see picture. 9-20-16 seal end 2

6. Stamp Happy Halloween (from Jar of Haunts #142247) in Archival black  ink on Pumpkin Pie cardstock; punch out with 1 3/8 circle punch. Punch a 1 1/2 in circle from black cardstock and adhere to back of pumpkin circle with multipurpose liquid glue.

7. Punch a hole above the verse using the handheld 1/8"circle punch.  Cut two (2) 18"pieces of orange/black twine; using both pieces, wrap around one end of the paper tube, tie in bow and secure the knot with a glue dot to the tube.

8. Cut an 8"piece of the same twine, loop through the tag hole and slip on the tassel. Tuck the twine end under the bow, tie in a knot and trim the ends. Now here's the tassel tip--if the tassel keeps falling over the Happy Halloween, take a glue dot and secure the metal band to the tag front so that it rests just to the left of the stamped verse. It will look awesome but will not flop over your verse. 9-20-16 tassell

9-20-16 treat holder 2

Your treat holder is completed! It's pretty awesome right--you can also substitute Christmas paper (or general design series papers) for another version. If you try this out--send me a picture and let me see your creation!

Here's  the supply list. Use the Shop Now button at the top of the page and order your suppies to create this treat holder:

Cute, Quick DIY Halloween Treat!

Ever have a need for a quick Halloween treat? Co-workers, Halloween "poop", kid's parties, great hand-out treats? But you don't have a ton of time to work on them? This is for YOU! Check it out! 9-13-16 Halloween Tiny Treat Box

Isn't that awesome and it really took me only five minutes because I changed the color of the fence twice before I decided on black. Really, this is an awesome treat and you can complete them in no time!

I used the Stampin'Up! Halloween Scene Edgelits which makes it a snap to get those awesome images for the box front.

Here's how! After I give you the step by step directions, I'll give you the supply list.

1. The base for the treat box is the Clear Tiny Treat Boxes--no glue required, just fold the bottom flaps together, stuff with Jelly Beans (I used tangerine), and close the lid.

2. Using the Layering Circle framelit that measures approximately 2 7/8" inside diameter (across the widest part of the circle), cut a circle from Pumpkin Pie Glimmer paper. Cut this into quarters (keep 3 for 3 more boxes). Adhere one of these quarters to the upper left of the box front using glue dots.

3. Using the witch silhouette and the fence dies (Halloween Scene thinlets) cut these images from black cardstock. (Hint: use the Precision Base plate whenever you use dies with intricate designs--it save tons of time and gives you nice clean crisp cuts) Adhere these to the box front using glue dots.

4. Cut a piece of Kraft rope trim about 18 inches, tie around the bos in a bow on top of the box.

Your treat is completed! I don't think we've ever had instructions with only 4 steps! You can whip out several of these in no time. You  get 8 boxes in a pack-- you can have 8 great treats in a matter of minutes. Try it out--they are terrific!

Totally Trees....Take Two

Monday we created a really great Fall card...using the new Stampin' Up Totally Trees stamp set in the new Holiday Mini catalog (if you don't have your mini, let me know and I'll get one to you).

Today, we're doing another simple card with this set to get our creative juices flowing and see what versatility we have in this new little set.  You can see all the different stamp pieces in the Supply section or on page 48 in the Holiday mini catalog. 9-9-16 Totally Trees - Winter

What do you think of this  Winter version? This can be any type of card from Christmas, thank you, birthday, thinking of you to just a simple 'hello. '

I'm going to give you the step by step directions and then the list of supplies you'll need.

1. Cut5 1/2 X 8 1/2 thick Whisper White cardstock, score the long side at 4 1/4 (cardbase).

2. Cut Whisper White cardstock 4 X 5 1/4; rub the embossing buddy over the lower part of this cardstock, stamp 'hello' (Endless Birthday Wishes) in Versmark ink (see card for placement), sprinkle with silver embossing powder, heat with heat tool until shiny silver.

3. Use the Woodland embossing folder on this piece, adhere to the card front base using multipurpose liquid glue.

4. Cut Shimmery White cardstock 1 3/4 X 2 1/4, stamp the naked tree trunk in Archival Black ink in the center. Using a sponge dauber, color the sky using Marina Mist classic ink--use circular motions with the dauber. Adhere 3 rhinestones to the sky--(see picture for placement.)

5. Cut Silver Glimmer paper 2 3/8 X 1 7/8; adhere under stamped cardstock using glue dots.

6. Cut Marina Mist cardstock 2 1/2 X 2; adhere under silver glimmer paper using glue dots.

Your card is finished---and what a versatile card it is--you can substitute a multitude of verses on this one!

Here's the supply list. Use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to order what you need.

Totally Trees...Take One!

This week I played around with the new Stampin' Up! Totally Trees set. This set is in the new Holiday Mini catalog (If you don't have yours--let me know and I'll get one to you right away).

The Totally Trees set is a bit of a sleeper until you begin playing with it and see all the terrific possibilities it provides. Since fall is fast approaching, I decided to create a fall theme card. (Come back Friday and see what new theme I tried). Here's the fall version: 9-6-16 Totally Trees - Fall

As you can see the stamp set has tons of simple designs to work with (see image below in the supply list or page 48 in the Holiday mini catalog)--and this makes it tons of fun as well as pretty simple to pair them up for a really great stamping experience.  Since it's a photopolymer stamp set (completely see through but still used with clear blocks) you  can easily do 2 step stamping with it for perfect results.

I'm going to give you step by step directions and also the supply list so you can re-create this card ---or better yet, do your own creation!

1. Cut Crushed Curry cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2 (card base): use the Boho Chic embossing folder on the card front.

2. Cut Delightful Dijon cardstock 3 X 4 1/4; cut Very Vanilla cardstock 2 7/8 X 4 1/8--we'll stamp on this.

3. Using Archival Black ink stamp "Sending Smiles" (#170403 - Greatest Greetings stamp set) near the bottom of the Vanilla cardstock in the center.

4. Using Early Expresso ink, stamp the tree trunk with the rounded ends in the middle of this piece; stamp the naked tree trunk on both sides of the middle trunk.

5. Using Cajun Craze classic ink, stamp the rounded triangular solid over the left trunk; using Crushed Curry classic ink stamp the triangular solid over the middle trunk; using Pumpkin Pie classic ink stamp the rounded triangular solid over the right trunk (Note: you will need to clean the rounded triangular stamp before switching ink colors).

6. Using Garden Green classic ink, stamp grass around the bottom of all 3 tree trunks.

7. Apply Clear Wink of Stella to all the tree "leaves";  adhere 3 gold Metallic Enamel shapes to the card (see picture for placement)

8. Adhere the Vanilla layer to the Dijon cardstock using multipurpose liquid glue (#110755); adhere this unit to the card base front using liquid glue.

Your card is completed! Needless to say, you can switch out the greetings for your specific needs.

Here are the supplies you'll need. Use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to order:

Simple and Simply Fun!

Sometimes we just need a quick card ---cute and quick. That's what this one was designed for...it's about as simple as they come but cute and fun too. We're using the Happy Ornament stamp which is a single stamp in the new Stampin'Up! Holiday mini catalog. Here it is! 9-2-16 Happy Ornament card

I'm going to give you directions and then the supply list for re-creating this one:

1. Cut a piece of Cucumber Crush cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2; this is your card base.

2. Cut a piece of Cherry Cobbler cardstock 3 7/8 X 4 5/8; adhere this to the card base with multipurpose liquid glue (see picture for placement).

3. Cut a piece of Shimmery white cardstock 3 3/4 X 4 1/2. Stamp the Happy Ornament (single stamp) in Archival black in on this piece. Using the small Aqua painter and Cucumber Crush ink, color the blow. Using the Large Aqua painter do a water color wash in Real Red over the Ornament-- this means make sure the aqua painter is really wet and use ink that is squished in the lid of the ink pad (not the ink pad itself) as a wash. This is not meant to be an even coloring--it will have lighter and darker shades depending on where the ink is concentrated...let this dry since you've used quite a bit of water here.

4. Using the Gold Wink of Stella, color the ornament cap.

5. Adhere the shimmery white cardstock to the Cherry cardstock using liquid glue. Adhere 3 gold Metallic enamel stars around the ornament.

Your card is completed--that didn't take long and it has a bit of a rustic look!

Here are the supplies you'll need. Use the Shop Now button at the top of the page to order your supplies:
