More simple and cute cards with minimal supplies

Tuesday we designed some really cute cards using minimal supplies. One of the supplies is the Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper...this is an awesome supply because of the amount of material you have and it coordinates beautifully with the Brights cardstock.

I wanted to try another design with another of the Brights colors in the designer paper--so today we are using the Daffodil Delight color. The only extra supply item you'll need for this design is a pack of Basic Rhinestones (#118246). All of the other supplies you already have from Tuesday's card.

Here the new design:

  2-26-16 Daffodill -1

2-26-16 Daffodill -2

Here are the directions for the card. Following the directions is the list of supplies you'll need.

  1. Cut a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock 8 1/2 X 5 1/2, score at 4 1/4 on the long side.
  2. Cut 3 pieces of Daffodil designer paper 1 3/4 X 2 7.8, Use 3 different designs on each card. Adhere these to the upper part of the white card base using liquid glue leaving approximately 1/16" white border.
  3. Using the Petite Petals punch, punch out 7 small flowers from the Daffodil cardstock. (If you like the 3D effect, lay the flower on the punch mat and using a stylus, press down gently in the center). Add a small rhinestone to the center of each flower.
  4. Using glue dots, adhere these flowers to the lower edge of the designer paper. See picture
  5. Stamp your greeting in Archival Black in in the center of the white portion of the card front. (Grretings from Sassy Salutations work great for this card).

Now you are done! Create more using different colors--you'll have a great stash in no time.

Simple cards with minimal supplies

I'm forever getting caught with no card for the occasion and needing to get it in the mail pronto! So I thought I would show you how to create a really cute card that requires minimal supplies. You can cut the pieces and assemble as the need arises--or assemble a bunch--leave off the greeting until you  need the card,

First I took out my pad of Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper...now this is a awesome supply to have on hand. There are 12 colors in the family and the pad has 4 sheets in each color--2 different sets of designs...in other words you have 4 designs to choose from. Paired with a pack of Brights cardstock (2 seets of each of the 12 colors) and thick Whisper White cardstock...you can create up to 576 cards using the design I'm showing you below from the DSP stack (you would need more Brights and thick white cardstock than a single pack.

Here are the cards I designed. I used all 4 designs of the Bermuda Bay color so you can see the different designs. I also used some white stitched satin ribbon on 2 and just a narrow strip of the Bermuda Bay cardstock instead for those of you who are ribbon averse!  If you prefer the Subtle or the Regal colors you can easily switch out the designer series stack and use those colors instead.

2-23-16 Bermuda 1

2-23-16 Bermuda 2

Now I'm going to give you the simple directions and following that, the list of supplies for creating these cards.

  1. Cut a piece of thick Whisper White cardstock 4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2.
  2. Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper 2 1/2 X 4 and adhere to the card base front using multipurpose liquid glue
  3. Punch a large flower from the Bermuda Bay cardstock with the Pansy Punch; punch a small white flower from the white cardstock with the Petite Petals pumch (if you like a 3D effect, lay the flower on a puch mat and use a stylus to press down in the center).
  4. Adhere the small lower to the large flower with a glue dot; adhere a Bermuda candy dot to the center of the white flower Adhere the flower to the left top of the card using a dimensional.
  5. Stamp your greeting (Sassy Salutations) in Archival Black ink on the remaining white area.
  6. If you like to tie ribbons--use a 14"piece of stitched white 3/8" satin ribbon around the middle of the card (where the designer paper ends) and tie a square knot. If you are ribbon averse, use a piece of Bermuda cardstock cut at 1/4 X 4" instead.

You are done! You can see  how easy it is to have a stack of supplies ready to go when you  need a card.

Now, stop back by on Friday and I"ll show you another simple design using the same basic supplies as we are using for this card.

DIY - K-Cup Treat Holder

Want to give someone a little treat to perk up their day or say Happy Birthday or Thank you?  There are tons of occasions when we want to give a small gift or treat to someone and don't have a lot of time to spend creating it. This is a really cute treat--a K-cup treat holder--of course, you can put in coffee, tea, cocoa--whatever treat they might enjoy,

2-19-16 K Cup holder

So what do you think? Cute, right?
I'm going to give you the directions and then the supply list for the items you'll need.

Here's how to make it:

  1. Cut a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock 6 X 10 1/4; on the 6"side score at 2 and 4 inches--this is parallel to the long side; on the 10 1/4 side, score at 1/4, 2 1/4, 4 1/4, 6 1/4--this is parallel to the short side. 2-19-16 K Cup holder cutting pattern
  2. Below is the result---cut out the pieces marked with hatch marks and cut up to the next score line on the sides marked with the thick black line.  Place Tear & Tape as shown in the picture below. Also place a piece of  Tear and tape on the reverse side of the cardstock on the small flap the is 1/4"deep.

     3. Using the 1 3/4 circle punch, punch a hole in the center of the square where the circle is drawn in the picture.

    4.  Remove the covering from the tape on the 1/4"deep flap and adhere it to the long piece section of the cardstock at 2"above the score mark.  The hole will be where the K cup sits...this has now formed the basic box holder.

    5. Now on one side, fold the top flap down to meet the base and fold the back flap over it--remove the tape covering and adhere; fold the front flap over the side flap--remove the tape covering and adhere. Repeat on the opposite side.  Your box is now together.

   6. Using the Project Life corner rounder (#135346) and round the 2 upper corners of the long back  piece/

   7. Cut 4 pieces of It's My Party designer series paper stack (I used the confetti design) 1 7/8 x 1 7/8. Use the corner rounder on to sides of one of these pieces and adhere to the tall back flap using multipurpose liquid glue.  Adhere the other 3 pieces to the sides and front of the box.

   8. Stamp the flower image (Beautiful Bunch stamp set) in Watermelon Wonder Classic Ink on Watermelon Wonder card1044300stock and on Blushing Bride cardstock. Punch our with the Fun Flower pumch. Adhere the Blush flower to the center of the WatermeloN flower using a dimensional (#104430) and adhere to the tall back with another dimensional (you may want to snip off about 1/4"of the bottom petal to fit the flower snugly.

   9. Punch a circle from a scrap of Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer paper (#1353150) with the 1 1/4 scallop circule punch and adhere to the flower center with a glue dot.

   10. Stamp Hello in Archival Black ink (140931)  on a piece of scrap white cardstock; punch out with the 1"circle punch--adhere to the center of the Dazzling Diamond glimmer scalloped circle using a glue dot1

11. Using an 18" piece of white 3/8" stitched satin ribbon, encircle the box with the ribbon and tie a bow in the front.

Insert a K Cup and you are done!  Let me know how you like it--leave me a comment!

DIY Universal Card - Birthday, Thinking of You, Get Well, Thank You, Anniversary

Would you like to have a card on hand (or at least the template) of a card that would serve for birthdays, thank you, get well, anniversary, hello, etc? Would you like to minimize the supplies needed to create the card?

Here is a card that really can fill the bill for a wide variety of occasions and that uses the Stampin'Up! coordinating cardstock packs.  The below card was created using the new Birthday Blooms stamp set (Stampin'Up!) and the coordinating Birthday Bouquet Cardstock Pack. (note: this cardstock pack also coordinates with the Brithday Bouquet Designer Series Paper (#140557)---the colors  are gorgeous together).

2-9-16 Birthday Blooms - Pool

Isn't this just a beautiful card? And you can switch it up simply by changing the background cardstock--check back on Friday to see the new color combo...by purchasing the combo cardstock pack, you minimize your purchases of cardstock as well as provide an alternate background color.

It's also an easy card--you can put this together in a matter of minutes or you can sit and watch your fav TV program and create multiple stamped images, color them and assemble when needed. This is a great card to have on hand

Below are the directions and following the directions is a supply list for this card.

  1. Cut the card base from Pool Party cardstock (4 1/4 X 11, score the long side at 5 1/2).
  2. Cut a piece of black cardstock 3 3/4 X 3 3/4.
  3. Cut a piece of the thick white cardstock (in the combo cardstock pack) 3 1/2 X 3 1/2. On the back use a ruler and draw a line at 1 3/4 from top to bottom; turn 90 degrees and draw another line at 1 3/4--now you have a cross on the back of the card dividing it into 4 equal squares.
  4. On the white cardstock front (without the lines) stamp the large flower image (Birthday Blooms) in Archival Black ink, Using daubers, color the flowers with Blushing Bride Classic ink and the leaves with Mossy Meadow ink. REmember daubers give you a soft color and WILL go outside the lines.  Get over it!
  5. Using a Crushed Curry marker, color the large flower center; Using Wink of Stella Gold--add a bit of shimmer to the flower centers.
  6. Using the dots (Birthday Blooms stamp set) stamp randomly around the flower using Pool Party Classic ink.
  7. Turn the stamped cardstock to the back and either using Paper Snips (103579) or your paper trimmer (126889) cut on the penciled lines. Turn these pieces over and arrange them in the proper order--attach them to the black cardstock using dimensionals....there will be a small space between the pieces so that the black will show through--see the above picture.
  8. Glue the black cardstock to the card base near the top using multipurpose liquid glue.
  9. Stamp "Happiest of Birthdays to you" in Archival black under the stamped image on the card base.

You are done!
