DIY Desktop Easel Mini Calendar

What a super idea for your own desk or as a gift-able for a birthday, you're just a great friend, or as a hostess gift when visiting someone...This DIY Desktop Easel Mini Calendar is always a popular item.

1-5-16 front

We created these over the weekend at the two Occasions Mini catalog debuts...these were the Make & Takes. There were so many requests for the directions and measurements, I promised to post them today...so here are the instructions and following the "how to" is a supply list for you to   purchase what you need to re-create these.

How to:

  1. Cut Old Olive cardstock 8 1/2 X 4 1/4, score on the long side at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8; fold on the score lines to resemble a Z
  2. Cut Old Olive cardstock 4 1/4 X 4 1/4, add liquid multipurpose glue to the top of the Z and position the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 so that if the Z is folded flat, the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 fits directly over the bottom part of the Z...see the pic1-5-16 side 1

<-----this is the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 piece of cardstock; under the flower stamped portion you can see the top part of the Z---this is where the glue should be added and glue on the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 piece.

3.Cut a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock measuring 1 1/4 X 4 1/2, wrap a piece of Watermelon Wonder Lace (5 1/2" long) around this and secure the ends on the back with Tear & Tape.  Using liquid glue, secure this to the bottom of the Z about 1/8" from the edge...see the above picture.  This forms a "ledge" for the top layer to hold in the easel position.

1-5-16 side 2

4. Cut a piece of Mossy Meadow cardstock 4 X 4 and adhere this to the center of hte 4 1/4 X 4 1/4  Olive cardstock using liquid glue.

5. Cut a piece of Botanical Garden Designer Vellum Stack (#141019 in the Sale-a-bration mini--FREE with $50 purchase); using the embossing buddy, rub over the entire surface.

    a. Across the top stamp the leaves from the Grateful Bunch stamp set in Mossy Meadow Classic Ink.

    b. On the left side near the bottom, stamp "The Adventure Begins" (You're So Lovely stamp set) in Versamark; sprinkle with gold embossing powder, and heat with heat tool until shiny gold.

    c. Cut a piece of gold glimmer paper 1 7/8 X 2 1/2--attach to the right side of the stamped verse using glue dots.

    d. Adhere the mini calendar (you can purchase these through Vippies.com) with Tear and Tape to the center of the gold glimmer paper

6.  Stamp the trio of flowers from Grateful Bunch in Archival Black ink, immediately sprinkle with Clear embossing powder and punch out with the Grateful Bunch punch. Using dimensionals adhere these over the leaves at the top of the vellum. Add rhinestones to the centers for some sparkle--how can you have a New Year without sparkle?

7. Adhere the vellum over the Mossy Meadow cardstock using glud dots in the corners.
