Stampin'Up! Birthday Blossom Card & Instructions

There seem to be a ton of birthdays in the summer months and I'm always needing a birthday card. I like to have a basic design on hand and then create the perfect card by using the color combo that will appeal to that special person.

This card is one of those basic designs using Stampin'UP! Brithday Blossoms set that you can either create several and just send or have the design worked out and then create using the colors that your special person would love!

1 Birthday Blossoms

Here's how to make the card:

1. Cut Whisper White Cardstock 7 1/2 X 5 1/2, score on the long side at 4 1/4 (the longer portion will be the back of the card. Cut 1/2 X 5 1/2 black cardstock and adhere to the underside of the card front with multipurpose adhesive.
2. Cut Calypso Coral cardstock 1 1/2 X 5 1/2; stamp with Dots for Days using Stazon Jet Black ink; adhere to the right edge of the inside of the card using multipurpose glue.
3. Stamp the small clustered blossoms a couple of times in the lower 1/3 of the card front in Stazon Jet Black ink; using a sponge dauber sponge with Blushing Bride Classic ink.
4. Stamp the large blossom in Stazon jet black ink three times on Calypso Coral cardstock and punch out with Pansy Punch. (note it is wise to mark your stamp that coincides with the bottom petal of the punch--stamp with the marked part at the bottom and then your punch will line up correctly without much fuss).
5. Adhere the 3 punched blossoms to the card front using dimensionals--refer to the picture for placement. Add flower centers (White Perfect Accents) --these are self adhesive so use the tips of paper snips to get under the adhesive on the backing and lift to flower center--push off with finger.
6. Punch 3 Itty Bitty Accent Flowers from scrap Blushing Bride cardstock and adhere to card front--refer to picture.
7. Stamp 'hello' (from A Dozen Thoughts) in Stazon Jet Black in the upper right corner.

You are done!

Sketched Dots Tag a Bag Gift Bags

Sketched Dots Tag a Bag Gift Bags (what a mouth full, right?) was one of the treats for the sale shoppers last weekend.  I used these bags because they are super cute and quick to decorate!

6-26-15-1

A whole row of them is great for decorating the table to look festive and you can do it fast and easily.

6-26-15-2

Here's how to create these little cuties:

1. Cut a piece of black striped designer paper (#138435 Neutrals Color Collection) about 2 X 6 and cut a dovetail in the right hand side--you can attach this to the middle front of the Sketched Dots bag wtih multipurpose adhesive.

2. Adhere the doily over the designer paper.

3. Stamp the flower from You've Got this on Real Red cardstock (3102482) and cut out with your trusty little paper snips...adhere to doily with multipurpose liquid adhesive.

4. Tie a bow with the black satin ribbon and adhere under the flower with a glue dot.

5. Stamp "A Little Thanks" with Stazon on a piece of scrap white cardstock and punch out with the  Washi Tape punch (this new punch is really awesome!)

5. Adhere to bag with dimensionals (#104430).

You are done! Stuff the bag with goodies and celebrate!

Let me know what you think of this treat bag in the Comments section.

Easel Post-It Note pad holder using Garden in Bloom

If you attended the Sandi's Super Summer Sale on Saturday (6/20), then you probably created one of these cute little Post-IT note holders with Stampin'Up!'s new stamp set-Garden in Bloom and the new In Colors for 2015-17.

Several attendees wanted the directions for these little cuties so I promised to post them for you to replicate.

Here's the photo of the holder from the front and slightly angled:

1Easel notepad front
1Easel notepad partial

Here are the directions:

1. Cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4 X 8 1/2, score on the long side at 4 1/4 and 6 3/8.
2. Fold the cardstock on the score marks in a Z shape withe the head of the Z parallel with the foot of the Z.

1Easel notepad side view

3. Cut a piece of cardstock 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 of matching color. Use Multipurpose liquid glue on the Z head (the part that is parallel to the Z foot, align the top of the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 cardstock with the edge of the Z head and adhere. In the above picture the Z head is under the 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 piece where the flower is on the front.

1Easel notepad diagram

(If you have done this correctly the top and bottom will fold together on top of each other in a 4 1/4 X 4 1/4 square.)
4. Cut a piece of black cardstock 1 1/4 X 4 1/4 and adhere to foot of Z about 1/8" from the front edge.
5. Cut a piece of vanilla cardstock 1 X 4 1/4 and stamp with leaf border from Bordering Blooms in Old Olive ink; adhere to top of black cardstock, centering over the black.
6. Cut 4 X 4 black cardstock and adhere to the top of the Z head over the4 1/4 X 4 1/4 cardstock.
7. Cut 3 7/8 X 3 7/8 vanilla cardstock. Stamp flower stem (using Garden in Bloom stamp set) in Stazon, stamp flower outline and leaves outline in Stazon (refer to picture for placement).
8. Stamp solid flower within the flower outline using Watermelon Wonder ink; stamp solid leaves inside leaves outline using Old Olive. (Note: notice the stamps have a blip that does not stamp--if you keep the blips at the top when you are stamping, the outline & solid images will line up very well).
9. Stamp Bonjour, Beautiful or This is the Day (from Happen Happenings) in Stazon slightly above the middle of the right side. Adhere the post-IT note pad with multipurpose glue under the verse.
10. Punch a small butterfly (Bitty Butterfly punch) from Gold Glimmer cardstock and adhere above the verse using a glue dot. Adhere the vanilla cardstock to the top of the black
11. Cut a piece of coasterboard 4 1/4 X 4 1/4; edge the coasterboard in the ink color matching the cardstock used for the base. Adhere this to the undersize of the Z base...you are done!

Matching Cards and Envelopes

I love things that match and coordinate...outfits, jewelry, furnishings...and cards with their matching envelopes!

Here's an example of what I mean:

FB - Blog Env paper + card

I just love the way they look together. Stampin'Up! has this awesome new Envelope paper which is a bit lighter in weight than the regular designer series papers. It is specifically for making envelopes with the Envelope Punch Board. For the regular sized cards you need a 9 X 9" piece of the envelope paper (just follow the directions on the board to create the envelope--easy peasy). BUT....

You have these pieces of leftover envelope paper which are just perfect to create a coordinating card!

Here's how i created this card:
1. cut Mint Macaron 8 1/5 X 5 1/2 (score at 4 1/4 on the long side) creating your card base.
2. Cut 4 X 5 1/4 white cardstock. Cut a 5" piece of Mint Macaron lace and adhere the ends to the backside of the white cardstock; adhere this unit to the card front.
3. Cut a 3 X 4 1/4 piece of Mint Macaron cardstock; cut a piece 2 7/8 X 4 1/8 from a leftover envelope paper; Adhere these together and then adhere this unit to the center of the card front.
4. Using the lacy large butterflies thinlet (Butterflies thinlet), cut the butterfly from the Dazzling  Diamond Glimmer paper; adhere the body of the butterfly to the middle of the card front using a glue dot.
5. Using the small butterfly from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, stamp the image in Mint Macaron on a scrap piece of white cardstock and cut out with the matching thinlet. Adhere the middle of this butterfly over the center of the white butterfly. Attach a large rhinestone tot he top middle of the small butterfly.
6. Stamp the verse in Stazon to a piece of scrap white cardstock, punch out with the Word Window punch; adhere to the card front using dimensionals.
Done!

Here's another card with the same design using another one of the new 2015-16 In Colors (Watermelon Wonder)!

Happy Birthday, Nancy!

Nancy Neal celebrated her birthday with a card class in my studio. She and her friends created gift bags and gift tags to use for their gift-giving over the next few months.

Well, what's a birthday with out some cake, right? And what's better than having it stuffed with yummy chocolate? Nothing, right?

Here's what we gave Nancy for her birthday.....

6-15-15-3

This beautiful hunk of chocolate cake is not really cake (guess you could tell)....I'm not much of a cook or baker so I created this slice of goodies using the new Cutie Pie framelits and a new stamp set called Sweet Stack. Oh, my goodness, it was a bundle of fun and so quick and easy--I could have done a whole cake in a matter of minutes!

But....if you wanted to do the whole cake, why not use the Sweet Stack cake building kit--it comes with it's own cake plate & stand! All the cutouts, candles, banners/poles--it's all in the kit! of course, the Sweet Stack stamp set can add a lot of detail and color to the slices.

6-15-15-14

The slices open from the back and you can tuck in all kinds of goodies for your party guests!  I stuffed Nancy's with chocolate but any kind of goodie can be used to fill the slices. Each guest can then take one home and enjoy another treat!

Here's a thought, why not have a  "pre-party party" and create this awesome cake on a cakestand--you can enjoy a relaxed afternoon or evening preparing it with no hassle or hustle!

Call me to schedule
1. Your pre-party party
2....and your realy party---stamping is such a relaxing and fun time--your guests will really have a great time and your guest of honor will enjoy your celebration---birthday, shower, graduation....just about any celebration will do!

Here is what you need to create the cake slices using your favorite color of cardstock.  I recommend if you are using the Cutie Pie thinlets, that you use the new Tear and Tape to adhere the major pieces together.

Here's a card (using Stampin'Up! World of Dreams stamp set) that fits that description---it could be birthday (as shown here--and actually could be for guys or dolls), it could be thank you, thinking of you, sympathy or just because.

    a.Cut the silver diagonal stripe (Neutrals Designer Paper) 1 X 5 1/2";

One Sheet Cardstock Box

One of the doorprizes at a recent class was the one sheet cardstock box. Everyone loved the box and wanted the instructions. So here they are:

1. Use one 8 1/3 X 11 sheet of cardstock (your favorite color).  Score all sides at 1 1/2". Then score vertically from the long side at 4 3/4 and 6 1/4". Cut all score marks along both LONG sides up to the horizontal score mark. Cut slim deep V's as shown.

The picture below shows the score markings, the cut lines and where to adhere the Sticky Strip or the new Tear & Tape. (You can use Multipurpose adhesive liquid glue but you'll need to sit and hold the box while it dries). Do not use Snail adhesive, this adhesive is not strong enough to hold your box together over a period of time--it will eventually pop open.

Cardstock scoring & cutting

2. Remove the adhesive covering from the center tab and the box bottom tab and adhere the tabs to the box side.

Taping together

From the inside it looks like this.

From the Inside

3. Remove the adhesive covering from the box top tab and adhere to the box top side:

Taping the box top

4. Now repeat #2 & #3 for the other side of the box.

5. Your box is put together. To close the box, the box top sides fit over the bottom sides and looks like this:

6. Now decorate with your favorite accessories and punches.

Below is the Bohemian Designer Paper--if you enjoy Blackberry Bliss--this is for you!
There is a stamp set that coordinates with the paper which will be awesome to create cards or scrap pages that are "put together". By the way, Stampin'Up! is doing something really fun this year with the Deesigner papers--they have packaged 3 coordinating colors of cardstock to match the Designer paper--it's right there beside the designer paper so there's no confusion which is the coordinating pack.  In the foreground are 2 sample cards created with the I Think You Are Greaet stamp set--lot's of potential there.

6-2-15 samples9

In the foreground is the new 6 X 6 stack of Designer paper called  Cherry on Top. There are a couple of cards using the paper and I think You're Great stamps.

And, in this pic are the New In Colors: Delightful Dijon, Tip Tip Taupe, Mint Macaron (no this is not misspelled--it is the French spelling of Mint Macaroon---you can call it by either name), Cucumber Crush and Watermelon Wonder.

These are the snack packs that we munched on while perusing the new pages. The stripes on the front of the Fry Box are done with the It's All About Sugar set....aren't they cute?
