Sale-a-bration Featured Product #2

Good Morning!

I know you remember that Sale-a-bration is going on right now (purchase $50 in product) and select a FREEBIE from the Sale-a-bration mini catalog--stamps, designer paper, ribbon, buttons, and,,,,drum roll...Blendabilities!!!

Each week I'll be sharing a featured SAB Freebie and this week is the truly awesome Irresistibly Yours Designer paper.

Irresistibly Yours Specialty Designer Series Paper #138635

This paper is so much more than meets the eye! The glossy designs look great alone or will "resist" ink, making them really fun for techniques. Try it with spritzers, brayers, sponges and daubers (one of my favorite coloring techniques as many of you already know)

You'll find that this paper can be used with any style, from bold and bright to elegant and subtle. Try a technique evening with your friends where everyone can play with this paper and fall in love with it like I have!

This paper doesn't show well in the mini (how can you show  white on white, right?)--it appears to be gray and white--but it's really a cleared embossed pattern on the white paper. It is relatively stiff and can be used with your box board too!

Here's my recommendation (before we get to the photos of some projects designed with the free paper....purchase your inks and coloring tools (see below for some recommendations on these) to reach $50 or more (you can get 2 packs of this designer paper if you purchase $100 in product)--then as your free selection--choose the Irresistably Yours Designer paper.

I'm sorry to say, you cannot purchase this paper--you can only get it for free!! It's a rough life, isn't it?

OK, here are a couple of projects I've completed with this paper...let me know what you think.

The above is the full card using a dauber and Melan Mambo Classic Ink....you can see the embossed image on both the colored part and the uncolored part...below I've just tried to capture an angled view so you can get a better up close view.

Here is another card design on which I used the Brayer and Daffodil Delight Classic Ink

Girl's Night Out

Mountain Christian Church held their annual Girl's Night Out last Friday evening--it is always an awesome event! This year the theme was a Night in Paris....Eiffel Tower, French haute couture. hand bags, and perfume. Cafes along the street, crepes, and on and on and on. There was tons of food (yes, French onion soup), beverages, games, music, dancing and fun activities.

One of the activities was creating a mini album to keep the memories of the evening...photos, mementos, journaling, autographs of your friends (new and old)...just a little treasure of the evening.

I have a terrific team of ladies who help with the preparation of these little albums--they spend many hours on this project every year. At the event, the guests visit several stations stamping, adding prepared add ons, and finishing the album.

My team this year was Sandy Zinkhan, Nicole Soistman, Natalie Truesdale, Penny Metz, Ann Scaturo, Josie Welsh..here's a couple of photos

Just in case you don't recognize me--I'm the one that looks like the Eiffel tower!

We did have a blast as always--it is such a joy to help these ladies go through the assembly line creating the albums--they are so appreciative and are so happy that they could create this fun little memento!

Here are some photos of the mini album. You will notice that all the supplies and stamps are Stampin'Up! but many of them were pulled from the retired drawers--I was so thankful I had kept them--they were perfect for this project. (Ladies, hoarding is good!)

The event is only 2 1/2 hours and we can accommodate about 180 ladies throught the line  - fron 600-700 ladies attend the evening. We then take names and complete the remainder of the albums after the event and get them to the ladies who didn't have the opportunity to create their own!

It's a fun time and we look forward to next year!!!

Chalkboard paper

Have you seen that new Chalkboard paper from Stampin'Up! (new Occasions Mini catalog)....it is fun and great for making cards for guys or kids (and us ladies, too). It may look a lot like Basic Black Cardstock but it is totally different,  It has 2 sides--one is glossy (coated) and one is dull (uncoated). These are designed for different uses

Shiny side (coated): use with actual chalk (the old-fashioned kind) and white craft ink

Dull Side (uncoated): use with Stampin'Write Chalk marker, and the new Chalk inks (Colorbox Chalk Ink Pads)

Here's a photo of one card I made using this new Chalkboard paper--I stamped in White Craft Ink (no embossing with this) on the Chalkboard paper (3 1/4 X 4 1/2). I rounded the corners with the Project Life corner rounder. The card front (8 1/2 X 5 1/2 Crumb Cake -scored at 4 1/4) is stamped with the Hardwood stamp in Early Expresso Classic Ink and again rounded the corners. I then punched 3 Petite Petal flowers, added small pearls to the centers and adhered these to the chalkboard with glue dots. I tied a small bow with Baked Brown Sugar Thick Baker's Twine and adhered to center with a glue dot (Don't you LOVE glue dots!--I can't imagine a world without glue dots! I punched a Bitty Butterfly from Silver Glimmer Paper--and yes, another glue dot. And there you have it--a lovely card that is quick and easy.  If you are doing a card for guys or kids--use stars punched from something glittery!

This chalkboard would also make a wonderful journaling base--you could produce this card front and instead of stamping--use your chalk marker to add the who, what, when, where about the photos in your album!

The possibilities are endless! Let me know what you use Chalkboard for.

Stampin'Up! Project Life Adventure

Have stacks of pictures in your closet, stuffed under the bed, in huge containers in the basement? Yesterday we had an open memory-keeping day in my studio. Three ladies took the challenge (the 4th will be coming to the next 2 sessions) to bring pictures and actually start their memory keeping adventure.

Joining the fun was Julie Wernz, Diane Muhler, and Nancy Akehurst.  These ladies are planning to attend 3 monthly sessions to get their pictures into  awesome albums so they can be enjoyed. How many times do you go to the bedroom closet and drag down those boxes of pictures and look through them? If they were in albums in the family room--wouldn't you be more likely to share them with family and friends during their visits? (Who doesn't want to share their most precious moments with others?)

Julie unpacked her photos of her trip to California and the behind-the-scenes fun at the Rose parade. Julie managed to fill 7 pages---she said for her this was a miracle! She's coming back to the next two work sessions to keep her momentum going. Here's one of her pages (she's going to use her computer to write some journaling entries for it)

1-10-15-2

Diane was dreaming of her days on the beach and those wonderful meals at Secrets resorts...she and her neighbor are going to get together to keep getting their pictures into these quick albums on a regular basis. Coming to the 3 work sessions will help them keep compiling their pages. Here's one ofher pages:

Nancy was reminiscing about her wonderful pets and the mischief they got into in her craft areas. Nancy is planning to open up her large dining table and get more of her pictures into a format that can be enjoyed instead of sitting on a shelf.

The Project Life by Stampin'Up! is realy an awesome way to do your memory keeping in a quick and easy to use way--those cards in the kits are so easy to slip into the pockets along with the pictures--those pockets are built to handle your 4 X 6 and smaller cropped pictures....let me know if you'd like to get started on your pictures stash! Here are some products that will really boost your productivity and get those pictures into a "sharing" format!

New Photo Album Styles for Classes

We are starting the new year with a new style of Photo albums styles - 2 of them!

First we are having 3 classes in which you will be able to complete a photo album using the new Project Life products--in the classes you will receive the pocketed pages (1 & 2 class, a set of cards (1st class) and the leather photo album (last class). Also included is a set of grid cards for journaling (adding names and dates to your pages).  If you are interested I still have 2 spaces available--contact me now to start on your holiday pics and get that album done!

Second, our traditional photo album pages will be getting a new look! Instead of the usual seasonal pages which many of you have but don't use or can't use for your pictures, we are going to general look pages--these are great for family photos, heritage pictures, or general occasion photos...this way you won't be limited to a specific season but can use these pages for all types of photos,

Why not get out those boxes of photos you have stuffed in the closet, the storage room, the basement, and under the bed--bet you didn't know I knew about those, right? Well, don't start squirming about your secret photo stashes---we all have them. Start your year off by getting those out, selecting a few representative photos and get them into a format that you and your family can enjoy! Join our regular scrapbooking groups and make some awesome pages and show off those photos!

Check the Class Schedule and Sign up today!

Attached are the first set of pages--and since photographs of these pages does not really show you any sparkle or shine that really gives them some character--I'm also including a snap of one of the embellishments so you can get the flavor of these pages and what they really look like.

Happy New Year!! Let's get back to stamping!

Happy New Year!

Hope you enjoyed the holidays as much as I did. It was a wonderful time with family and friends!

I'm now ready to get back to full time stamping with you.

Stampin'Up!'s Blendabilities are really awesome coloring tools. These alcohol markers are a fun way to color in line images and shade from dark to light. They are really easy to use you can experiment to find the best method that works for you.  You don't have to blend with them--you can just use them for coloring, but blending will become addictive once you find out how easy and fun it is to do.

These markers come in packs of 3 (light, medium and dark) for each of the 12 (and now 4 more in the new Occasions mini catalog effective 1/6/15). So even if you don't use them to shade--there are 3 colors in a pack that can be used for coordinated matching colors.

Here is a card that we are creating at the 1/3/15 Blendabilities class (this is our last of 6 classes). I'm using a new image from the Indescribable Gift stamp set featured in the Occassions Mini catalog:

1-3-15 indescriibable gift

See how the colors of the flowers blend from dark to light. If you are realy talented (and I am not), you can imagine where the "light" is shining on an object and shade your images accordingly. Or, if you are like me, and you don't have that talent, you can just shade from dark to light and you will definitely "wow" the recipient of the awesome card.

One of the reasons I'm talking to you about the Blendabilities is that they are now FREE in the Sale-a-bration mini catalog that goes into effect 1/6/15. This means that if you purchase product for $50 (excluding tax and shipping) you can select any set of the Blendabilities (p. 20 of the SAB mini) for FREE!!

Isn't that a great way to try out these awesome new alcohol markers?

Get yours FREE now by placing orders of $50 in product (1//6 - 3/31)!! See how fun it is to use them!
